Excellent, large-format photographs, beautifully clear, well-chosen and captioned. Marred only by a couple of photographs which clearly don't belong: one of what looks like a Mk IX Spitfire shooting down a Heinkel HeIII (possibly a still from the film "Battle of Britain"?) and a shot which purports to be taken in Summer 1940 but clearly shows much later Spitfires with pointed rudders and bubble canopies.
This fell into my hands when I was cataloguing books for the shop - but it turned out to be pretty interesting! It's a kid's book really, with puzzles and 'things to do' alongside the information, but ultimately it is a well illustrated and informative book on life in World War II. I learned more about it here than from years of the school history department churning it out!
