Ann Leary

I date myself here, but this is like reading Erma Bombeck or Nora Ephron but with curse words. Ann Leary, novelist and memoirist, is married to Dennis Leary, actor and comedian. Through the essays in this book, the reader learns a lot about both Learys and especially about their marriage, dogs, homes, ballroom dancing success, kids, and tennis games. It's all serious fun and remarkably revealing. The main premise is that Leary is taking herself to task for overestimating her ability to be a good person and then citing funny and poignant examples of people she wants to emulate, even though she fails most of the time. It's a short and really enjoyable audiobook and the author sounds completely comfortable ratting herself out.… (more)
