1598. The Russian Revolution, by Marcel Liebman translated by Arnold J. Pomerans (read 26 Nov 1980) I do not believe I have ever read a book so Marxist as this one. The author is a Belgian Marxist and the book was written about 1967. I was a little dismayed to realize how much there is to know and how much has been written about this event and how little I know. I had Father Green's course in 20th Century Russia when I was a sophomore at Loras but that is a long time ago. This book reads like a Marxist tract, and I found novel the attempt to justify so much that I have seldom before heard attempted to be justified. One really should read more in this field, but this book irritated because of its overwhelming and illogical pro-Bolshevik bias. On Sept 17, 2001, I read A People's Tragedy by Orlando Figes and found it a far better account.… (more)
