Nita's could not speak but was able to communicate using sign languages. Her father and mother reminded her to use her manners when she ask for more. The book help children lean about diversity and embrace sign language.

Solid, interesting, new world. Plenty of drama and I admire any book that holds up the magical power of literacy, so I'm on board for that. I'm not totally into the characters, but I also appreciate the very real moral dilemmas that they face. I suspect that readers who like The Red Queen will enjoy this one, too.

Early childhood education resource. Great collection of signs for babies/tots and plenty of songs/rhymes for tots/preschoolers. Even if your baby is too young to speak, I tell parents, knowing the basics of how language works will give her a great head start later on, and knowing some basic signs will make communication much less frustrating and interactions more rewarding.
I already knew the signs for bathroom and diaper, but now I can also sign 'stinky' diaper. Lots of fun and some new-to-me songs and signs, so this gets a big thumbs up from me (ha ha).… (more)
