Although titled for amateurs, much of the text is wrapped up in latin names and citations to the bibliography. It reminds me of some of the lab manuals for plant identification by disecting for diagnostic traits. Classification is everything in this book. There is no mention where to find the specific fossils mentioned.

If you happen to dtumble on a fossil, you might find it in this book but so few are shown, you probably will not.

This book, although focused on geology, also includes park history, evidence of earl American Indian occupatioon, the nearby museum in Canyon Texas, camping and picnicing and a few other details. There is lengthily coveage of the fossil vertabrates with photos. The camping and picnicing have changed but the geology is still accurate.
