A good guide for all types of fictional romantic comedy, not just the screenplay. Mernit uses examples starting back with silent classics through to the early 00s that helps writers understand what makes an audience love the story. While the concept was promising, this book ended up being quite the disappointment. I gifted it to someone else in the hopes they would get more enjoyment out of it.
