When she arrives she finds he was attacked and pulled into the sea by a giant squid. Despite her repairing his broken bones he seems to continue to decline. According to clansmen who show up he will die if away from his home island for very long. Geneva returns with him to his home to attend him and try to find out why these mythical giant squid are targeting his island. Fun adventure with characters from earlier volumes of this steampunk series showing up.… (more)

Fun steampunk adventure.

Cards & Caravans (The Gaslight Chronicles, #5) by Cindy Spencer Pape

Connor McKay, Knight of the Order, is asked by a friend to check on his great niece, Belinda, because he is having bad feeling about her. Connor finds her in jail about to be burned at the stake for witch craft the next morning. He manages to get her out and they escape to his family estate. But it is not just Belinda in danger, it seems this is happening all over southern Scotland and northern England. A great adventure ensues as well as a love story. Love this steampunk series.

Photographs & Phantoms (Gaslight Chronicles #1.5) by Cindy Spencer Pape

Lord Kendall Lake is sent on a mission to investigate a strange phenomenon at a photography studio. Amy Deland is afraid of a snake-like shadow that is appearing in her photographs, since shortly afterward the person shadowed dies. She is afraid she is the cause. This is a short novella following in the steampunk series where magic is intertwined with the typical mechanical elements. Cute.
