Barry M. Pritzker has written Native America Today: A Guide to Community Politics and Culture and Native Americans: An Encyclopedia of History, Culture and Peoples, and has coedited the Encyclopedia of American Indian History. He has taught on the Taos Pueblo and at schools in Arizona, show more Massachusetts, and France. Pritzker currently works at Skidmore College. Paul C. Rosier currently serves as associate professor of history at Villanova University. His latest book, Serving Their Country: American Indian Politics and Patriotism in the Twentieth Century (Harvard University Press), is winner of the 2010 Labriola Center American Indian National Book Award. show less

Ansel Adams and American photography
Great coffee table book filled with Black and white photos taken by Ansel Adams. Highly recommended.

I am a fan of black and white photography and love this beautiful book!
The introduction talks about his lifes work. The first camera Ansel Adams received was in 1916 at the age of fourteen. He was deeply influenced by Paul Strand - an American Photographer and Filmmaker.
Sections covered are "Canyons and Caverns", "Mountains and Skies", "Portraits and Close-ups", an "Indian Life, Past and Present".
In addition to his natural scenes, are images of Georgia O'Keeffe and Dorothea Lange along with others he admired and photographed.
It was good to see photographs included of Ansel Adams receiving awards of distinction a few years prior to his death in 1984.

How can one criticize a Adams's photos? The only real complaint in a compilation of his art is that it is not complete and exhaustive. Still, this book is a fine sampling of his photos.
