Thanksgiving, football, Christmas, and romance. This short novella isn't just a perfect choice when reading time is limited, it is also a terrific way to prepare your heart and mind for the holidays! Author Toni Shiloh shares the touching story of a young, divorced woman who wants to be the best mother that she can be but still yearns for love and romance. Could the return of a former flame be the answer to the longing of her heart? Or a painful reminder that he chose a football career over a future with her?

I guarantee that this captivating story will remain with you long after you finish it! The Christmas Catch has family, faith, and second chances, along with a reminder that life isn't always fair, and hurts are often afflicted by those we love the most. Well-developed characters, valuable life lessons, and swoony romance make this a book to enjoy and savor, and I recommend it to all who enjoy romantic Christian fiction with holiday themes.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review.

Another delightful, heartwarming Christmas romance from Toni Shiloh! The Christmas Catch was a fun, second chance, girl next door romance with a handsome pro football player & a darling single mom. I thoroughly enjoyed this tender romance filled with faith, personal growth, repaired relationships, & lots of Christmas cheer.

Lucille “Bebe” Gordon is living in her childhood home with her daughter Hope after her divorce three years ago. Her world is turned upside down when her old high school sweetheart returns to Peachwood Bay, Georgia after a serious football injury looking as amazing as ever. Though she resents him for breaking up with her years ago, it hurts even more to know that their long standing friendship ended too. Now that he’s back, Bebe has to decide if she’s willing to risk another broken heart.

Jahleel Walker is forced to return to his parents’ home after a career ending injury takes him out of the football season. It’s the last place he wants to be considering his strained relationship with his preacher father. As he recovers, he’s surprised to find Bebe, the woman he never forgot living in her parents’ home next door. With lots of time on his hands, he does a lot of soul searching & decides he wants to rekindle his relationship with her, but what happens when he has to return to Texas. Will he be willing to give her up all over again?

I thoroughly enjoyed this story! It’s a quick read, charming novella with all the Christmas feels. I loved seeing “Jay” & Bebe rekindle their friendship & romance. Their history makes their relationship all the more enjoyable as they easily slip back into their familiar jokes & closeness. Bebe’s daughter Hope is an endearing seven year old who tugs on your heartstrings. I enjoyed seeing Jay taking such an active interest in her & supporting her not only because of her mother, but because he wants to really be there for her. I also appreciated the reconciliation that takes place between Jay & his father.

There were so many swoon worthy, touching moments with endearing characters who feel like friends. The author also weaves a beautiful faith narrative throughout that brings a spirit of forgiveness & second chances especially at Christmas time. Highly recommend to contemporary romance & romcom fans! I received an advanced complementary copy from the author & publisher. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.
This is exactly what it says, A sweet holiday novella. I found it to be a comfortable read for an afternoon in bed with the flu. I imagine that it would have been that much nicer with a cup of cocoa by the fire in one of those dark winter evenings leading up to Christmas. The characters were sweet and memorable and the messages of God's love and hope were there but didn't hit you over the head as preachy or judgy. I really enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it to those of you looking for some light holiday reading on those dark winter evenings!… (more)

Toni Shiloh tackles several weighty subjects in her newest book but it's never a downer! A Run at Love has two characters who are clearly meant to be together but they each believe that the other only thinks of them as a friend. I admit that I'm partial because my Daddy's nickname was Tuck, but Tucker Hale is one of Shiloh's best male characters yet! He's loyal, hard-working, and he never leaves God out of his decision-making. Tuck is devoted to Piper McKinney but he considers himself as being in a different social class. How could he expect her to consider him more than a friend? And then there's Piper. She was adopted by a wealthy white couple so she recognizes her advantages but she's now trying to break into the male-oriented racing world! She knows that Tuck is there to help her in business, but could he ever give his heart to a black woman?

I've only recently discovered her writing, but no one creates better contemporary fiction than Toni Shiloh! The setting is my home state of Kentucky and the plot centers around preparing horses for the most famous horse race in the world, the Kentucky Derby. There's excitement, drama, and references to unforeseen circumstances that have plagued recent Kentucky Derbies. There are also shout-outs to fashion, the famous Derby parties, the mint juleps, and the celebrities that flock to our state on the first Saturday in May. Add some swoon-worthy but sweet romance between "friends" and throw in a faith element that's inspiring but never preachy, and the result is a book that I couldn't put down. I loved this book so much and I can't wait to read the next story in her Love in the Spotlight series!!
