Sarah Sundin mashes up two of my favorite book categories: WWII historical fiction and Christian fiction. A Distant Melody was wonderful, and this book was also wonderful (though just slightly less so). Where I could relate to Allie, I could also relate to Ruth, but not as much (thankfully).

The latest World War II Novel by Sarah Sundin is set in 1940 Paris, France. This is where we find two Americans Lucie Girard and Paul Aubrey. Lucie is a ballerina who is about to become a bookstore owner and Paul is reluctantly keeping his factory running. These Americans in Paris do not know each other but soon everything will change.
What I liked:
I liked reading about the operations of the Resistance. It made me think about the sacrifice, daring, and courage these choices involved. Risks were taken, decisions were made, and many times without the benefit of time to think it out. Until Leaves Fall in Paris gives the reader some insight into the feelings and struggles of Americans who found themselves living in the city of Paris during 1940 and 1941.
What I didn’t like:
The book does focus much more on a romance than I was expecting which was a bit of a disappointment for me. However, I understand that for many this would enhance the reading.

Sarah Sundin has written a compelling story in her novel, Embers in the London Sky. In a WWII setting readers find a mother desperate to find her missing child. Tension was kept high which kept my pages turning. Characters and their actions and emotions were realistic and relatable. Romance, murders, and mysteries blend with historical details of the WWII era to bring readers a wonderful story that is not soon forgotten. I read a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a positive review. The opinions are my own.… (more)

Denmark was a model occupied country for Nazi Germany, so they mostly left it alone for three years. Then they changed their mind and decided to deport the Danish Jews. This story revolves around the people who worked to get a large majority out of Denmark and into Sweden in a single night. I didn't know about this until I read this book, that though fictional was based on truth. Add a love story, and we have an awesome book.
