THE RISE OF NINE is action-packed and fast-paced. This book isn't perfect but it made me think, happy and annoyed. I still enjoyed reading it, it kept me sit at the edges at times.

This was the first book I read from The Lorien Legacies, I haven't read the novellas, I haven't read the prequels, I haven't even seen the movie, but since I thought it was the last and the movie was just so famous, I need to read it ASAP. But as it turned out, this isn't the end and from what I heard, there's still the fourth, fifth, sixth book, maybe even up to nine **sigh**

The Summary:
Six, Seven, Ten and her Cepan, Crayton flew to India to find another member of the Garde. There they met Eight, who had been training his legacies and living without his cepan. Four and Nine had just excaped from the Mogadorians and the US Government. Four constantly thinks about Sam and Sarah. Nine constantly reminds him that they are here to train and protect the earth and Lorien.

In between reuniting with the members, each group faced threats, mysteries, self-discoveries, answers and more questions.

THE PROS:
In this book, we see more on the character development and discovery. The Garde's members discover themselves, their abilities, their chest, their past. Also, some of the mysteries are solved ( I wonder what will the other books' conflicts are).
The charntacters have different strengths and flaws, most of them I loved.
There's action, random action in the book. It's also intense and well-defined.
The differe POV's have different depths, different voices, you'll know when it change.
I love the twists at the end ( especially what happened with eight :))
Nine and Eight save the book. (Nine is hilarious, hot and has some sense, Eight is hot, powerful, light and friendly)

IN THE MIDDLE:
The whole series has a lot of things going on, there are numerous subplots, backstories, conflicts and protagonists.
It's an interesting mix of characters but it also lead to some of them being just shadows.
The end doesn't leave in a cliffhanger.
The writing is okay, once you get settled reading.

THE CONS:
There are some boring parts, well, mostly the first chapters. I feel like there's nothing really happening. The story felt stagnant, it really doesn't move anywhere.
The author tried to do romance, but it's not good. He tried doing love triangles (six, seven, eight), but only one of them knew that there is such thing. The pairings are complex. (Six likes four, four isn't sure about Sarah because of six, nine shows interest to six, six has some bond with eight, seven hates six for being too close with eight, then eight suddenly loves seven and seven's happy). I don't want eight to end up with seven ( and really, what's up with that kiss, it's random, no one expects it, it felt pushed, just so seven would feel better)

I'm gonna read I AM NUMBER FOUR first to know for myself how good it is. I'm gonna read the next books in this series, because I'd like to know who carries Pittacus Lore's power (eight claim it, four claim it, and six has a msyterious voice calling to her) and really I just wanna know how this would end.

Recommended to anyone who loves reading about aliens, sci-fi, thrillers and action-packed books.

The writing is getting better (or I'm getting used to it!)... or perhaps its just because there is more to listen to than John as someone with absolutely zero common sense...
but I enjoyed it (audible copy)... not sure I would have made it through the series is someone else hadn't been reading it to me -
but as a listen - its a great read... and I'll be looking forward to the future books. ( )

TW/CW: Violence, torture, death, fantasy violence

RATING: 4/5

REVIEW: I am doing a lot of rereading now! I am rereading this series as well as Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series. Very different books, but I am very much enjoying them both.

I quickly skimmed the first two of these books as I remembered most of them, and started reading for real on the third one. I’d forgotten a lot of it since my last read was almost ten years ago!

The Rise Of Nine follows the story of the Loric Garde, powered teenagers who were whisked to earth as the only survivors of the destruction of their planet. In this book, all except one are reunited for the first time in ten years, and their battle against those who destroyed their world and are trying to destroy earth really begins.

I really enjoyed this series the first time I read it because it’s totally my thing. I’m a sucker for teen fantasy, and love seeing all the characters’ powers – or Legacies – develop. Even though I know the basic outline of what happens, it’s still exciting and a pleasure to read.

I would definitely recommend this series to people who love YA fantasy. ( )

So, I enjoyed this book. It is slightly better than the other two... but the POV thing? So confusing! It is narrated by Four, Six and Seven, but there is no warning to where each start so it becomes confusing and sometimes it takes a while to understand who is talking.
The story is fast paced and I can't wait to know what's next. But seriously... too much Sarah here and Sarah there. I don't give a shit about Sarah! I want to know about Sam ! And Five! And about the Lorien people and planet!
Overall I give it 4 stars, because i liked Eight,Six, Four and Nine, and the story is pretty nice ( )

I have been enjoying this series. It is a fun easy read. This one was a little more difficult to follow as it jumped from character to character in the first person. ( )

Doh, I thought this was the last book. I guess I'm in for one more. There's only one more, right? ( )

John is in a battle to save worlds. It is time to round up the troops. Time to gather forces. Time to plan a defense. I read this in one night. ( )

Sadly this series is going down hill. It suffered the same problems as the second book and a few more and I'm not as into it as I first was when I read I am Number Four. ( )

“I don't like bullies. No one has a right to take or to hurt just because they can.”

This book is definitely, 100% my favorite book in the whole series. It had everything I was looking for in the series and even after I have finished the rest of the books, The Rise of Nine is simply the one that I will never get tired of. I think I have read this book about 7 or 8 times since I got the book a couple of years ago and I can never get tired of it.

I have always been absolutely in love with the writing style of Pittacus Lore and after having finished the series I have to say that it always made me wait for the next book no matter what.

This part of the series has a sort of timeless classic feel to it and I feel like I can just read it forever. The plot here is also the best for me and I just loved all the characters here and I just can't remember one thing that I did not like in this certain book. I do have a different opinion on how this series ended and concluded but let's save that for another review.

Nine is also probably one of my favorite characters in the whole series. He is so funny and amusing, maybe inappropriate at times, but at the same time he knows when to be serious (kind of). He has gone through so much but he was still able to live and hold his own and this shows just how strong his character really is. He would do everything to protect his family and the only family any of them have left. This might be another reason I love this book. . . because it is focused on Nine's character.

This is the 3rd book in the Lorien Legacy series. As the title hints at, we get to meet number 9, another member of the garde. I wasn't sure how I felt about him at first, but as his character filled out more I came around. The book, like the others, is pretty action packed and the plot moves along quickly. I'm definitely interested in picking up the next book soon to see what happens.

This book was nonstop action from beginning to end. I am really impressed with how well the author manages to keep things going with the group being in different places and then bring them together seamlessly. I was so worried for the members of the Garde and kept my fingers crossed that they were going to survive the book. I highly recommend these books. If you watched the movie I Am Number Four and didn't like it, don't hold it against the series. They're quick, fun and exciting reads. ( )

Even better than the first two, really excited to see what comes next! ( )

Formulaic, no great work of literature, but fun enough for a summer read. I picked up 6 of the 7 books at a library book sale for $4, so I'll keep working my way through. I'm hoping the formulaic doesn't make it too painful to finish...we'll see! ( )

They Didn't Save SAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why didn't they save Sam???

Theory: Okay, so while I was reading this series, my brothers kept on making fun, saying the author, Pittacus Lore, Obviosly did not know how to count as it went something like :Four, Six, Seven, Ten, EIght and what the heck happend to 1-3?
My answer to the last bit was they died.
But it got me to thinking, we actually haven't come across, made contact with, heard about or from, Number Five.
What if *gasp* he's working with the Mogadorians?
Hey, the American Government is doing it. and, you know how the saying goes: "Don't knock it til you've tried it!"

Also, I said I would talk about how the Stargate refernce was completely unapplicable, so I'll get to that:
THe reference that was used in the book was when Six went from India to New Mexico, and Eight, Marina and Ella went from India to Somalia, Nine said "Maybe they found or used a Stargate."
That was the reference.
I will now explain why it is completely out of the realm of possibility.
There was an episode of Stargate SG-1 Wherein the team was gating back from some planet and the Goa'uld blew up the gate they were gating form behind them, disrupting the wormhole.
Daniel and Til'c got through to the SGC, but the wromhole sputtered and died before O'Niell and Carter came through.
Daniel was really smart and figured the Wormhole would've have jumped and connected them to the nearest Stargate.
The nearest Stargate happened to be on Earth, in Antarctica.
Meanwhile, O'Niell and Carter are stranded, buried under ice, with a Stargate and Broken DHD. Carter is really awesome and fixes the DHD and they try to dial home (to earth) repeatedly, but it doesn't work. BECAUSE THEY ALREADY ON EARTH.
There's some sort of technical explanation as to why a wormhole could not connect between the two Stargates because they were on the same planet, but I don't quite remember all the technical and scientific explanation, so just accept this:
It wouldn't work.

I'm sorry, I just totally went Stargate Nerd on you. ( )

This book was far more dry than the two preceding it. It didn't really pick up speed until there were about 100 pages left in the book (more than halfway through). The set up itself was pretty good, it follows every member of the Garde we have already met, a new member, and one of our old friends from [b:I Am Number Four|7747374|I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1)|Pittacus Lore|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1305807140s/7747374.jpg|10576999]. However, it's still very bland. There's very little suspense throughout and even when I finished reading it I didn't find myself grasping for more. It sort of just cuts off, without any warning or anything. Naturally, I still want to know what happens next but I'm no longer dying to know what happens next. ( )

This one was not nearly as good as the "Power of Six" was. The constant jumping around of characters the constantly changing POVs got annoying. 4 was starting to piss me off too. However, the over all story was not bad. ( )

If there's an author that knows how to deal with a lot of action and adventure, that's Pittacus Lore. There's a high chance that when you start reading a series with more than 2 or 3 books, the plot might become boring but that's not the case here. I will try not to finish the rest too early. ( )

I love this series. ( )

This book was very interesting. Its about children from a different planet who came here when their world was destroyed by a alien race. All of the children have “Legacies” better known as super powers that develop as they age. It has a fastpaced exciting storyline that draws you in. ( )

This was a 3.5 for me, but I felt like I needed to round up for this one since I liked the first books so much, and the series is one that I am overall quite interested in. But yes, still the book only get 4 with the rounding up! So much of this book was rather boring. It was just getting to know people and a whole lot of little things that are not exciting. I get that meeting 8 and 9 was important, but the book felt like too much exposition. The fighting was very ho-hum for so much of the book. The last few chapters were interesting, but also kind of expected. I guess a few things that were going to happen, but thankfully was wrong on at least one account. I have the next book ready to go....but I don't know if I really want to dive back into it. Now that there are so many people and they have the tablet they are clearly going to go find 5 and 7 and then we have even more people to get to know and be bored by..... It's still a good book and all, just way to slow. It felt like a bridge book, as in something to get us to what is still to come. Very few things happened in this book that were ground breaking or changed the overall flow of the story. If you had to skip reading one, this would be the one to pass over for sure! ( )

A phenomenal addition to the series; however, Nine made it almost unbearable. ( )

For some reason, I have this weird problem where I read half of these books in one sitting, put it down for 6 months and then pick it up and read the next half in another sitting. I like them, so I don't know why I do that.
One thing about this book that made me extremely happy is almost all of the characters reunited. I hate books where the characters are separated it makes me sad so when they all connected at the end I was happy. We just need Sam and Five now.
I love where the story went in this book. India was such an interesting setting, I love meeting new Garde and seeing their new legacies forming.
Overall, I really like this series. If we're being honest, this series really isn't my type of book, but I really like it nonetheless.
I intend to start book 4 very soon. ( )

Bit of an improvement on the last one. Nine is a new character with a new way of dealing with things and we finally have an injection of humour into the series which was almost non existent in the first two movies. ( )
