Don't Bite the Bridesmaid by Tiffany Allee

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Don't Bite the Bridesmaid by Tiffany Allee is an adorable romance about a human woman and a vampire man stumbling through awkward situations, dire circumstances and true love. Even with my busy schedule I read this in one day. It was that entertaining.

Alice desperately needs a "date" for her sisters wedding. Not just any normal wedding, a week long event on a cruise ship. She summons the courage to ask her gorgeous next door neighbor, Noah, who just happens to be a vampire in need of a getaway. A little pressure here and some persuasion there and they are now on a cruise ship under the scrutiny of Alice's entire family. With quite a few obstacles thrown their way they still manage to fall for each other.

What I liked best was that she was dateless because she didn't want to waste time on dating after her last disastrous relationship, NOT because she couldn't find a boyfriend.**SPOILER** Also, she ALREADY figures out he is a vampire before he gets around to telling her. I like that it doesn't take her completely by surprise. That she is a little more savvy of the paranormal than a helpless damsel.**END SPOILER**

I have not yet read one book from this publishing group that I haven't enjoyed. Obviously some more than others, but they are all fun reads that leave you feeling warm and fuzzy with the happily ever afters.
I'd love to hear more about Noah's vampire friends Charles and Alex in the future. ( )

I enjoy Allee's other paranormal series, Files From the Otherworlder Enforcer Agency, so I was pleased to see this new series (which as far as I can tell does not tie into OEA). With her engaging wit, surprising characters and a couple surprises Allee had me hooked on what would happen between Alice and Noah.

This is lighter in tone then OEA, which has horrific crimes at the center of each book, though it doesn't make the vampires any less broody. Noah's 'brother' Alex is a good example of this, though I'll toss his 'father' Kanehito in the mix. Noah himself does his darnedest to appear to be having fun during the cruise--despite the possibility of sun poisoning, the likelihood that he wouldn't be able to keep his hands off Alice and his impending nuptials.

The chemistry between them was hot, even as they both bumbled around trying to convince the other to do what they wanted and ignore what their bodies were telling them to do. It led to some amusing scenes as Alice tosses herself at him left and right, and Noah is almost as shocked as a virginal debutante and equally as scared.

Alice's ex is a sleaze, though I wish we had more characterization from Kristen (his fiancé) and her mother--oh my shiny stars her mothers was HILARIOUS. I can't fault a woman for teasing her daughter or making it obvious what she wants. She was largely played for comedic value, but she had some very touching lines.

The ending was a bit rushed--both Alice and Noah brought up good points, but we don't see too much resolution beyond 'I screwed up, forgive me?'. Which I was fine with; this is only the first book in the series (following the 'sons' of Kane[hito] as they find love I presume) so there's plenty of time to have mentions of what's going on with Noah and Alice. I *do* hope we find out what was up with Alice's brother and his own fiancé. I kind of felt like a big piece of the puzzle was missing, but really it just made me hope for the next book to give more clues. ( )

DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: Alice Shepard needs one thing: a date for her sister's wedding. And not just any date. A hunk who will make her fiancé rue the day he left her for her best friend. Her drop-dead gorgeous neighbor fits the bill—even if he is a bit quirky and never comes out during the day—and Alice has downed just enough appletinis to ask him. But she makes it quite clear that there will be no funny business. ( )

"3.5 out of 5 stars, this sweet paranormal romance will sweep you off your feet. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Alice and Noah's (a little unusual) world-win romance."

Don't Bite the Bridesmaid is a quick, fun, lighthearted read that is just perfect for the summertime. Whether you're looking for something fast to read on the beach or just an evening at home dreaming of an exciting vacation like Alice's, then this is the book for you.

I really liked this book, and I'm looking forward to reading more in the Sons of Kane Series since it seems really promising. The characters, even the supporting characters, were interesting. The story was fun, without any slow parts to slow it down. Definitely a fun read!

I will admit that I’m new to the world of paranormal romance. When this book first came out it got my attention because of the cover. But I didn’t pick it up then. In fact, I was against reading anything paranormal. I was convinced to read another paranormal romance and loved it. Then this book was suggested to me. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about vampires. I mean let’s face it, I don’t find being bitten and dying to be a turn on. But I checked out the sample and had to get this book.

To say I didn’t know what to expect reading this book was an understatement. Alice and Noah have liked and noticed each other from afar for years. They’re next door neighbors who pretty much only interact with each other when Alice initiates it, i.e. borrowing sugar or stopping by for something neighborhood related.

The story starts out with Alice getting tipsy in order to ask Noah to be her guest and fake boyfriend for a week. Her sister is marrying her ex’s brother and he and her former best friend are still a couple and will be at the week long cruise ship wedding. Alice’s first attempt at asking doesn’t go so well. But her second attempt is successful. Mostly because Noah has to get out of town in order to avoid getting bonded. Noah has been around for centuries. He’s a pretty square guy. It doesn’t seem like he does anything for fun. In his world, the vampire world, there comes a point in time when you have to be bonded with a younger vampire. The bonding is like a marriage, only you don’t actually have to live together. Your life becomes bonded to theirs. If one dies, so does the other.

I love the way Noah is so protective of Alice, when it comes to her ex. I also loved the way Alice and Noah tried to fight their attraction to each other. The chemistry between these two is explosive. It’s clear that they will do anything to be with each other.

If there is anything negative about the book, I would say I would love to have seen more of them and their life in an epilogue or something. But I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

My Reivew
This was such a cute little read. It was like the Wedding Date movie except with vampires. Alice has a hottie next door neighbor named Noah to ask to be her escort to her sister’s wedding cruise. Even though she has been secretly spying on him, she isn’t aware that this smoking neighbor is a vampire. He doesn’t want to go anywhere with his neighbor except he is being railroaded into an arranged marriage to another vampire and thinks a week or two out of the country should be able to keep those that would bind him far, far away until he can get out of his own wedding. When Alice and Noah arrive at the cruise ship they find they must share a cabin. Alice finally gets to confront her ex only to find he still wants her. Even with Noah at her side, it is still unsure if she will succumb her ex’s advances. Let the sparks fly where they may and melt the chocolate … there is romance afoot!

I enjoyed Tiffany Allee’s take on vampires and the romance she built for these two. This was a fun read and I was cheering for them! I will be continuing on with this series. What fun!

Mmm mmmm mmmmm!! There was a time when I was obsessed with Paranormal Romance but since I found my guilty pleasure in other genres, I stopped reading them. Don’t Bite The Bridesmaid is a completely different look on Paranormal world. Yes, there are vampires with all the same traits but they are mature and ohhh so yummy!

Alice asks her neighbor to go on a one-week cruise with her as plus-one and since Noah needs to get out of town to avoid being forced to get married, he agrees. Spending time with each other is more what they bargained for and when Alice realizes what he is, she doesn’t care. As long as he is not like her ex and will not use her and drop her like a doll. But even though Noah comes up with a brilliant plan to avoid being forced to marry someone he doesn’t care about, Alice might not take it so light.

SPOILER: SUPER ROMANTIC HAPPY ENDING!!!! YAYYYYYY!

Fun, enjoyable read. Definitely appreciate that the author showed a more mature side of vampires where I didn’t have to read about their insecurities and how high school sucks. This was a totally cute story about true love.

I received a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Still reeling over a past heartbreak, the best man in her sister's wedding, and trying to avoid looking like the sad ex, Alice is introduced by gathering the courage to ask her sexy, mysterious neighbor of five years to be her date to the wedding. When he surprisingly agrees, they will face a week full of sunlight, hilarious relatives, and secrets.
While the falling-in-love-with-a-fake-wedding-date isn't unheard of, the vampire spin on this romance makes it unique. While you don't see a large amount of this specific vampire's world, which I both liked and disliked, you get enough to make it a nice addition to the story. It might have even been beneficial that you only received a limited amount of information, because it really put the focus on the romance between Alice and Noah.
If you like romances in generally, I think you should give this book a try. Since the level of paranormal isn't super high, you don't have to be a fan of it to like the story. Likewise, if you aren't only a fan of just romance, there is enough vampire things to mix it up.
Overall, I thought it was a very cute read. It reads very quickly and smoothly, and the main characters are easy to relate to and lovable. The only reason I knocked off a star is for the lack of full background explanation when it came to Andrew and his ex-fiancee, which I think would have given more closure ( )

This story had a cute premise and a lot of promise, but it just didn't quite do it for me in the end.

Likes:
- The idea of the plot. The whole bringing-the-guy-you're-secretly-crushing-on-to-a-wedding-with-you troupe is cute, and of course he's also secretly been crushing on his date as well--sweet.
- The title.
- Some humorous moments.
- It was a quick, lighthearted read.

Not quite sold on:
- The characters. They frequently acted more like junior high or high schoolers instead of adults and centuries-old vampires: they had mercurial mood changes, and their insecurities and internal dialogue just didn't seem to match up with their ages.
- Noah's language--though frequently only inside his head--tended to be quite crude. I'm not a prude by any means, but it just didn't seem to fit with his character; each time he used the f-word or the c-word to refer his male part, it took me out of the story a bit.
- Not knowing enough of the backstory bothered me. Alice and her sister refer several times to their brother's ex-fiance, but we never really get the full story there, and it tended to be confusing to have it mentioned rather than illuminating. It might have helped them to come to terms with what Noah was, but it just made me feel like I was missing something. I also didn't feel like I understood Noah's world enough to share his concerns over his situation. More than once I checked to see if the author had another story set in this world so that I could get caught up, but none of her other books appeared to be related.
- The resolution seemed a bit rushed. I'm not sure I truly believe that all their angst really is resolved in the end.

Still, it was a pleasant distraction. I'm planning on having a look at the next "Sons of Kane" book in the hopes that my issues with this one are taken care of in the next.
