I'm finally getting a chance to sort out some of my books. Rather than adding to BookMooch directly, I'm placing things in my 'moochable' collection here first. Just send me a PM if you are interested, and then I will post on BM for you.

Most these books are thin enough for air letter rate, and if sent singly they would probably be sent airmail. The Hargreaves books together will be sent airmail, once the reserved moocher has enough points to mooch them. I have no idea what is up with seamail lately... have the post office job cuts slowed it down that much?!

I added a bunch of new magazines, including: American Archaeology, Archaeology, Asian (Asian Art Museum), Biblical Archaeological Review, Fine Arts Museums of SF, National Geographic, Sierra, Smithsonian, and more!

Individual issues, with some of the highlighted articles for each, listed here:

My weed-out bookshelf is almost empty now because I've posted so much lately. My latest additions:
Curse of the Mistwraith and Ships of Merior by Janny Wurts
The Book of Kells by R. A. Macavoy

Four which I will be listing fairly soon:

Growing Great Garlic by Ron L England
Best Thought, Worst Thought by Don Paterson
Living Dolls: The Return of Sexism by Natasha Walter
and Pieces of Mind by Michael C Corballis

There might be a delay on sending the Corballis, as my other half is supposed to be reading it first (but has a new iPod touch, which is taking upba lot of his time ... sigh!).

All in very good condition - the Garlic book has been expertly covered in clear plastic coverseal, but otherwise we're near new.

Why are all the books I want in the Southern Hemisphere? (I'm looking at you, bookel!)

joannasephine, I'd like the garlic book, please. I've just started growing some, and would love to see more about varieties and have more and clearer info on what to do when! I'm jjmcgaffey on Bookmooch, too.

17bookel
Mar 9, 2012, 7:42 pm

Hooray, at least someone wants them! I'm good at finding them perhaps. It's so hard to get points though, with the 3 point thing, but that doesn't stop me from mooching what I want. And why are so many books that I want in the northern hemisphere?! :) Which ones would you like? I may be able to give a few points back if you haven't enough. I'm trying to save enough for angel books. Won't be sending more until next Friday 16th March.

18jjmcgaffey
Mar 9, 2012, 9:37 pm

No, nothing in this latest batch. It was just in general. You come up with a lot of books I'd like...and the three points is a problem, not so much because I don't have the points (at the moment) but because I'm too cheap to "pay" so much for a book I don't _know_ I'll like. I've gotten a few from you, that I knew author or series or otherwise was pretty sure about. Hmmm, checking history - only one, I thought it was more.

19bookel
Edited: Mar 9, 2012, 10:10 pm

Oh okay. (Grumbles about the three points reducing likelihood of people mooching.) It's often the only way I can get some books though, so I keep requesting them!

>16 jjmcgaffey: Have reserved it for you. It's full of info, but geared towards people who want to grow garlic in near-commercial quantities, and not so helpful for people outside the US. Hopefully it will be just right for you.

22jjmcgaffey
Mar 10, 2012, 5:00 pm

Yeah - the amounts are probably overkill, but it does say (on Amazon) that it has at least some info for home gardeners. And I'm pretty close - a couple hundred miles - to his home base, so the climate isn't all that different. We'll see. Thanks!

I have some YA ARCs available,

A Temptation of Angels by Michelle Zink
and two copies of Girl Meets Boy: Because There Are Two Sides to Every Story (Anthology)
They were Early Reviewer books.

I've also got a couple of random things in my moochables collection (things that have been spoken for already have the @MOOCHED tag.)

There are a handful of American comics and graphic novels, but because those are the boyfriend's, not mine, and he'd prefer to swap for other comics I have to double/triple confirm with him before sending those out. (He gave me the ok, but he's still hoping someone has comics.)

Gone. Is there anyone interested in an ARC copy of Zombie Island? It was an Early Reviewers book, and I'd really like to send it to a person willing to review it.

Note that this book is set to be published May 22nd and is the second in a projected series (but I haven't read the first book and I read this one without any problems).

My review of it is here.

I haven't posted any books to my inventory for a while because I had such a large TBR pile and also I'm trying to spend down a large number of points. However, guilt has stepped in and made me realize I'm depriving my friends of an opportunity for some good books, So here are the best quality books I have recently read and am now ready to share:

The Angel's Game by Ruiz Zafon (hardback, a gift from another bookmoocher and in great condition with original book jacket.

Firewall by Henning Mankell. Also great condition, paperback

Love over Scotland' by Alexander McCall Smith. Also paperback in very good condition. I love this series!!!!

Funeral Games by mary Renault, obviously a reprint since she died some time ago. but this paperback copy is in excellent condition. It is the third in the Alexander trilogy, but her style is such that if you are interested in Alexander the Great, you don't need to have read the first two.

The Man who Loved Books Too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett. If you love books about books, this book is for you! also very very good condition paperback.

Just let me know within the next few days, and be sure and give me your BM name so i can reserve.
