MSNBC Hosts Battle Right-Wing Think Tank Leader in Tense Debate on Immigration: ‘Are You Talking About Going Door-to-Door’ to Deport Them?

News organizations spotlighting the various provisions of the 2025 Project EVERY DAMN DAY from now until November 5 may be the ONLY way to keep Trump out of the White House, the GOP reps from controlling the Congress and the gifting to SCOTUS members going forward. It is scare-the-sh*t-out-of-the-voters time!

I like "An incoming Administration should evaluate the federal government’s civilian research footprint and consolidate those functions while ensuring that any research conducted with taxpayer dollars serves the national interest in a concrete way in line with conservative principles."* It's the standard line from "facts don't care about your feelings" crowd, where it turns out what they mean "facts care about my feelings, not yours."

Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler is 704 pages. The right-wing (modern-day GOP) Project 2025/Presidential Transition Project is 920 horrifying pages.

Project 2025 will rob veterans and active duty troops of billions in benefits

The Project 2025 blueprint for a potential second Donald Trump administration would plunder veterans' benefits and shower cash on private contractors.

A chapter in the massive, 920-page Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise released by the conservative think tank details cost-cutting measures and other proposed changes to the Veterans Administration, including the replacement of its leaders and decision makers with political appointees.

Among other recommendations, the plan proposes eliminating concurrent eligibility for both service-related disability benefits and military retirement benefits, which Tucker says would reduce mandatory outlays by at least $160 billion through 2032, and revising the disability rating awards that determine eligibility for benefits and determine monthly disability compensation to reap "significant cost savings."

The plan also proposes to end enrollment in VA medical care for veterans in two low-priority groups to save an estimated $69 billion through 2032 and narrow eligibility for veterans' disability by excluding disabilities that cannot be related to military service, which would save an estimated $37.6 billion during that same period.

The 900+ page report must be permanently anchored around Trump's neck going forward.

That's according to Google Trends graphics making the rounds on social media that show rising interest when it comes to the GOP's plan to overhaul the federal government compared with the pop mega-superstar and America's most popular sport.

Trump claims not to know who is behind Project 2025. A CNN review found at least 140 people who worked for him are involved

Many people Trump knows quite well are behind it.

Six of his former Cabinet secretaries helped write or collaborated on the 900-page playbook for a second Trump term published by the Heritage Foundation. Four individuals Trump nominated as ambassadors were also involved, along with several enforcers of his controversial immigration crackdown. And about 20 pages are credited to his first deputy chief of staff.

In fact, at least 140 people who worked in the Trump administration had a hand in Project 2025, a CNN review found, including more than half of the people listed as authors, editors and contributors to “Mandate for Leadership,” the project’s extensive manifesto for overhauling the executive branch.

Dozens more who staffed Trump’s government hold positions with conservative groups advising Project 2025, including his former chief of staff Mark Meadows and longtime adviser Stephen Miller. These groups also include several lawyers deeply involved in Trump’s attempts to remain in power, such as his impeachment attorney Jay Sekulow and two of the legal architects of his failed bid to overturn the 2020 presidential election, Cleta Mitchell and John Eastman.

‘Exactly What Our Movement Will Do’: Unearthed Clip Shows Trump Endorsing Work on Project 2025 — He Now Claims He Knows Nothing About

NBC News’s Vaughn Hillyard shared a clip from Trump’s keynote address at Heritage’s annual leadership conference, in which the former president said, “Our country is going to hell. The critical job of institutions such as Heritage is to lay the groundwork.”

“And Heritage does such an incredible job at that. This is a great group, and they’re going to lay the groundwork and detailed plans for exactly what our movement will do and what your movement will do when the American people give us a colossal mandate to save America. And that’s coming, that’s coming,” Trump declared.

>8 Molly3028: The Heritage Foundation is a tax exempt organization. As such, they are forbidden to write or publish political manifestos during a presidential campaign. This post suggests that we should each file a complaint with the IRS:

The fact that the center-right Heritage Foundation has been MAGA-tized by Trump and his cohorts is disgusting.

>11 Molly3028: The idea that the Heritage Foundation is now considered "center-right" is itself a pretty bad sign. They used to occupy the extreme right end of what was considered "respectable" discourse, now I guess it's "at least they're not saying the Nazi part out loud yet, let's call 'em centrists".

Before the Trump era, I always considered the Heritage Foundation to be center-right. They are now off-the-radar-screen right in my mind.

Another right wing think tank is also preparing transition plans.

Meet the think tank planning a second Trump administration. (It’s not Project 2025.)

https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/29/trump-transition-plan-afpi-00176674

“AFPI is not becoming the transition,” said a person familiar with the Trump campaign’s transition prep, granted anonymity to discuss private plans. “But by virtue of how they are situated and that we are in a very late timeline for this work, AFPI and the transition may be a distinction without a difference.”

Heritage Foundation Staffers Flood Federal Agencies With Thousands of Information Requests
Sharon Lerner and Andy Kroll | Oct. 1, 2024

The conservative think tank’s requests are clogging the pipeline at federal agencies in an apparent attempt to find employees a potential Trump administration would want to purge.

...“climate equity,” “voting” or “SOGIE,” an acronym for sexual orientation, gender identity and expression... “climate change”; “DEI,” or diversity, equity and inclusion; and “GOTV,” an acronym for get out the vote. Many of these FOIAs request the messages of individual employees by name... “Trump” and “Reduction in Force”...“all employees who entered into a position at the agency as a Political Appointee since January 20, 2021”...“hierarchy charts”... “Biden” and “mental” or “Alzheimer’s” or “dementia” or “defecate” or “poop.”...‘DEI’, ‘Transgender’, ‘Equity’, or ‘Pronouns.’

...“if you purposely overwhelm the system, you can both cause slower response to FOIAs … and you can gum up other government functions.”

...Heritage’s FOIA blitz has even sought information about what government employees are saying about Heritage and its employees, including the three men filing the thousands of FOIAs....
