Here Are The Suggested Rules of the Game:

1. Please play on the most recent correct post.

2 Please verify that no one else has posted while you were preparing your post.

3. The title of the book cited must have one word, at least, which is the same as a word in the previous title.

4. The repeated word in the new title must be other than an article ("a", "an", or "the").

5. The repeated word must be spelled exactly as the word was spelled in the previous title. E.g., "prune" is not the same word as "prunes", and "loyal" is not the same word as "loyalty."

6. The repeated word must be in the title as shown in a LT library listing, or on the title page of the book. A sub-title or a series name can be included if the sub-title or series name is included in the title of a LT library listing, or is printed on the title page of the book.

7. A hyphenated word is one word, not two: e.g., "thunder-clouds"; and if used must be repeated in full, not in part only.

8. If you have read the book it would be informative that you so indicate and tell when you read it, if you can.

9. Try to use Touchstones. Put brackets around the title and double brackets around the author. If Touchstones don't work, try using an HTML link.

continued from here.

The Mysterious West: Stories of Suspense
by Tony Hillerman*

*The title reminded me of an essay by Iranian novelist F. M. Esfandiary who claims there is no
"Mysterious EAST", and no ʻInscrutable Orientals", but there sure is a ʻMysterious West" and a lot of
"inscrutable Occidentals", while the "East" is very
normal and down-to-earth.

". . .Some sort of child prodigy?,,," (148)

You donʻt have to have been a child prodigy to have been reading in 1943;
even I did some reading, as a non-prodigy, in 1943 (at age 11-12). But, I must admit, nothing as serious as the

On 185:

" ʻI couldnʻt find any there there.ʻ "

Neither could I in the case of Lucy Church Amiably which I did force myself to finish it.

As a philologist, I found it interesting to analyze, one sentence at a time. And the sentences are perfectly coherent, though sometimes it IS necessary to analyze; they arenʻt gibberish, which perhaps, popularly, she has the reputation of writing.
You would never know that English is a language very rich in vocabulary from reading Stein. Her total number of vocabulary items must be the among the smallest of any serious writer. She doesnʻt use what are called "big words", and is unpretentious, even seeming at times to be parodying "unpretentious" writing.

I donated my copy of Lucy Church Amiably to a Hawaiʻi public library which listed their copy of it as "Lost". They havenʻt accessioned the gift intended as a replacement.

Future History by Jerry Pournelle

Schmerguls, you could always try touchstoning just the last name and see if it appears on the others list, ie: Studs Terkel. Failing that then another option would be to use html tags to link directly (Plenty of help in WikiThing for this).
