It’s winter and Penny is ready with her sled, awaiting snow. She waits and watches and does other things but the snow never comes. But the next best thing arrives: the appearance of snow drop flowers as spring approaches. I liked the portrayal of resourcefulness and resilience when the snow never does show. ( )

At long last, a new Penny story! In this one, Penny is waiting and waiting for snow so that she can use her new sled, but despite her parents' assurances, snow does not come. Penny finds other ways to play with her sled, and when she finally tires of waiting for snow, she waits for a sign of spring instead - snowdrops. ("And best of all, they did not melt.")
