In this episode of APolitical, Tyler Goldberg and Alan Srochi are peaking through the looking glass to see what's happening inside the house of political advertising. With still billions of dollars expected to be spent from now until November 5, political advertising is ramping up. Our hosts explain the concept of "in-window" which refers to ads that are placed during a specific time frame, often close to an election date. This is a crucial timeframe because it targets voters when they are most engaged and likely to make decisions. During this time, candidates then take advantage of the "fastest unit rate" when there is a highly efficient cost per unit of exposure and a campaign can reach a large audience for a relatively low expenditure. Over the next few weeks, campaigns from across the United States will focus on strategic targeting, optimization of ad placements, and data analytics to refine messaging and reach the most relevant audiences.
