Welcome, Anne-Laura Cook, MD, FACP, MHCM! After a short time away, Dr. Cook has returned to serve as VIVA HEALTH's Vice President of Clinical Services. An internal medicine physician who has practiced in both primary care and hospital medicine, she has worked in numerous settings, including private practice, community health, and academics. Dr. Cook has served in a variety of roles in health systems throughout central Alabama and as Chief Medical Officer of Post-Acute Care for Ascension Illinois in Chicago. She is a graduate of UAB Heersink School of Medicine and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. We are confident that Dr. Cook's leadership and guidance will serve our team, plan members, and communities well!

Heat stroke is a very serious medical emergency and should be treated as such. Those most at risk are older people living in homes without air conditioning or fans as well as those living with chronic diseases or alcoholism. Be aware and quickly call for help if you notice a problem.
