The demonstration of Silent Hill 2 resulted in another wave of comparisons with the iconic original, with fans disagreeing on whether the remake performs worse or better than the classic.

After yesterday's presentation players eagerly started comparing Silent Hill 2 remake with the original. A lot of such materials have already appeared on the Internet, either prepared by industry websites such as IGN or by the fans of Silent Hill themselves.

Of course, no one looks at these comparisons from a technical perspective. Comparing the graphics quality of the original and the remake is pointless, as they are over two decades apart. Unless we're talking about the artistic layer.

Of course, as is often the case with remakes of iconic titles, some fans are critical of the changes. The alterations to Maria's design (i.e. "lifting" her skirt higher), changed Pyramid Head, and the "modernized" Angela evidently failed to excite the crowd.

There are also complaints about the graphics themselves, which according to a group of players, are falling behind contemporary standards, as well as inconsistency in the quality of visual design (again, mainly of Angela). Some fans go as far as to say that it seems like different people designed the various locations.

Nonetheless, many fans consider this criticism to be unfounded. The remake changes some elements - it would be hard for everything to look exactly the same, even considering only the technological leap in the last 22 years. Besides, as some internet users believe, those who want to play exactly the same game can simply launch the remastered original from 2001 (if it is available on their platform).

Certain elements visible in the gameplay actually received a lot of praise. The performance of the actors especially excited some fans, as did the subtle storytelling in the dialogues. Not everyone is complaining about the character redesign - including Angela, who finally looks her age (20; in the original, many people thought she was around 40; via Reddit).

Silent Hill 2 will be released on October 8 on PC and PS5.
