The Hello Song is a song from the album Yakko's World. It is sung primarily by Yakko with backup from Wakko and Dot. The song is all about the many different ways people greet each other around the world.

Lyrics[]

Yakko:
There's a word in every language,
A word that you should know,
A word that means you're friendly,
A word used high and low.
Though the way to say it varies
Most everywhere you go,
Its meaning never changes
And that word is...
The Warners:
HELLO!!!
Hello, hello,
Hello hello hello,
Hello hello hello hello
Hello, hello!
Yakko:
In Germany, it's "Guten Tag,"
Which also means "Good day".
"Nǐ hǎo" is exactly
Hello sounds in Taipei.
In Portugal, it's "Olá"
In Arabic, "Salaam",
Saying "Zdravo" means "Hello"
In Macedonian.
It's "Aloha" in Hawaii,
They say "geiá sou" in Greece,
In Israel, the word "Shalom",
And that means "peace".
The Italians have "buongiorno",
The Viennese "servus",
When you're at the Eiffel Tower,
Just smile and say, "Salut".
The Warners:
Hello, hello,
Hello, hello,
Hello hello hello hello
Hello, hello!
Yakko:
In Nepal, they say "Namastē",
In Sweden, "God dag",
In Thailand, "Sabai dee roo",
"Dobrý den" in Prague.
In the Spanish language, "¡Hola!",
The Netherlands, it's "Dag!"
In Japanese, "Kon'nichiwa"
And "Hey!" in Little Rock!
When you say, "u hali gani"
Swahili is the tongue,
In Russian, it's "zdravstvuyte"
Which sounds way better sung.
If you're ever in Korea,
"Annyeonghaseyo,"
And in some parts of Brooklyn,
Hello is just plain "YO!"
Yakko and Wakko:
Hello...
Dot:
Hello!
Yakko and Wakko:
Hello...
Dot:
Hello!
Yakko and Wakko:
Hello...
Dot:
Hello!
Yakko and Wakko:
Hello...
Dot:
Hello!
The Warners:
Hello hello hello hello
Hello, hello!
Though the way to say it varies
Most everywhere you go,
Its meaning never changes.
Hello...
Hello....
Helloooooooooooooo!!!
Goodbye!!!

Trivia[]

  • A project called The Hello Song Animated was organized by several Animaniacs fans in 2021, and released on June 9, 2023. The video presents an animated take on the song by different animators, and can be viewed down below and here.
    • The project has been notably praised by songwriter Paul Rugg[1] and series creator Tom Ruegger.[2]
    • There are several Easter Eggs in The Hello Song Animated:
      • The opening logo, which is inspired by the original series, is a spoof of the one in Wakko's Wish.
      • During the Eiffel Tower scene, there are two Wakkos which can be seen. This is a reference to a joke in the reboot episode "Gold Meddlers," in which Wakko says he "found himself in Paris".
      • The Warners' anime incarnations from the reboot episode "Bun Control" appear as toys that the Warners are playing with during the Japanese shot.
      • The Warners reprise their outfits from the song "Macadamia Nut" in one of the scenes near the end.
      • The project's outro uses the music from the reboot outro, however it contains an end credit gag, similar to the original series. The gag says: "Just wait for Season 4! Just wait! And wait! And wait!" This is a reference to the gag from episode 99, whose end credit gag says "Just wait for Episode #100! Just wait! And wait! And wait!" These both allude to a continuity for the show that never happened, respectively episode 100 of the original series and season 4 of the reboot.
