"The standard rifle of the UACM, the Pulse Rifle is a middle of the road assault rifle, good at all ranges with minimal recoil. Remember - short, controlled bursts."
―M41A2 Pulse Rifle description (from Aliens: Fireteam Elite)

The Armat Battlefield Systems M41A2 Pulse Rifle was an American-made pulse-action assault rifle and the successor of the M41A Pulse Rifle. It was notably employed by the United States Colonial Marine Corps and several United Americas branches during the late 22nd century.[1]

Development[]

Designed as a successor of both the M41A Pulse Rifle and M41A Pulse Rifle MK2, the M412A2, like its predecessor, featured a reduced magazine size—which was slightly higher than the MK2—in favor of better accuracy and modularity. The first batch was released in 2189 and was a great success; however, after six months of field service, more than a third of these M41A2s began to chronically misfire due to the underslung U1 Grenade Launcher, which was left with insufficient recoil suppression by unrelated changes to the MIL-STD-1971 attachment system. Armat's gunsmiths advised armories to strip the grenade launchers from all existing M41A2s and remove it from the design of any newly manufactured models.[1]

Overview[]

The M41A2 fired the standard United Americas 10Ă—24mm Caseless. The weapon possessed relatively balanced statistics, being more accurate than its predecessors but lacking the stopping power of their underbarreled grenade launcher.[1]

Notable users[]

Originally issued in 2189 for the Colonial Marines, the M41A2 saw service with the United Americas' national services, colonial militias, corporate security forces and private military contractors.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The M41A2 Pulse Rifle appears in Aliens: Fireteam Elite and is the default Rifle weapon for the Gunner, Demolisher, Recon and Doc classes. It is also the default weapon of UAS Endeavor's combat synthetics Beta and Alpha, which assist the player in lieu of other human players.
