Synopsis[]

Kouga is assigned by the Senate to escort the arrogant Makai Priest Ratess to transport a Spirit Beast pelt to a dropoff point, so it can be used to manufacture Makai brushes. However, The Man in the Red Mask appears in an attempt to steal the pelt and is pursued by Kouga. Red duels with Kouga in an attempt to kill him and then claim the pelt for some unknown purpose.

The Red-Masked Man asks for immense power from Gyanon in the presence of Gigi.

Kaoru Mitsuki is busy drawing Kaoru. Kouga Saejima tell Kaoru Mitsuki to give up as Gonza Kurahashi brings tea. Gonza offers to be a model for Kaoru, but she rejects him, stating that the characters in her picture book are meant to be fantasy creatures. Zaruba thinks that Kaoru has run out of ideas. Zaruba tells Kaoru that it was Kougas idea to name the Makai Dragon Kaoru. As Kouga and Gonza look upon a sleeping Kaoru, Zaruba tells him of orders for Kouga from The Senate.

As Kouga makes his way to the Senate, Kaorus publisher tells Kaoru that he expects more from her drawings. Kaoru bumps into Leo Fudō, who is taking a day off work, as she is crossing the street.

Kouga is introduced to Ratess who has obtained the pelt of a Spirit Beast. Ratess says that the job will be easy as he has no yin to be attacked. Grace tells Ratess to apologise as he shows his displeasure. Zaruba tells Kouga that he understands why Leo didn't come in to work.

Kaoru speaks to Leo about how he left Kouga. Leo states that he regrets the action now. Kaoru deduces that the Spirit Beast pelt is used to strengthen the Madō Brushes of the Makai Priests. Leo explains how Makai Priests were the first ones to fight Horrors and used the brushes to cast spells to protect people. Kaoru asks if she can look at Leo's brush, which he agrees to. She stands up and tries to cast a spell, failing to do so. Leo sees Mio when he looks at her. Kaoru gives the brush back to Leo as they walk off.

Ratess and Leo are in an elevator and Ratess talks about a troublesome female priest. Ratess lectures Kouga about proper order and decorum. Kouga tells Zaruba to be quiet as Zaruba complains. The group arrive at the Madō Train.

Kouga, Ratess and the priests disembark from the train and Zaruba confirms that there are no Horrors nearby. They mee the priests who they are meant to hand the pelt to. Kouga stops the handover when he realises that the priests are corpses. The Red-Masked Man takes the pelt and attempts to escape. Kouga chases after the Red-Masked Man at the behest of Ratess. The Red-Masked Man reveals that he is a priest without removing his mask and subsequently confronts Kouga. During the battle, The Red-Masked Man transformed into Jaaku.

The Red-Masked Man escapes after the battle and crushes Kaoru before removing his mask.
