Kuromames

Kuromames (Translated into English as "Black Bean")  are enemies which appear in Super Mario 64.

Physical description[]

Kuronames appear as a black beanlike ball that appears perfectly motionless until Mario approaches at which point it expands twice Mario's size and spits a homing fireball.

In Super Mario 64[]

Kuromames first appear in Super Mario 64 and shoot fire at Mario as he walks by. They do not return in Super Mario 64 DS, which instead replaces them with motionless Fire Chomps. Kuromames can be found in Shifting Sand Land, Bowser in the Fire Sea, The Secret Under the Moat, Wet-Dry World, Tall, Tall Mountain, Tiny-Huge Island, Tick Tock Clock, Rainbow Ride, and Bowser in the Sky. Due to the nature of their roles, it is their first, and so far, the only appearance where they do not self-destruct or run out of fire.

Trivia[]

  • Kuromame is the name of a Japanese dish consisting of sweet black soybeans, which the enemy was probably named after.
