A firing squad.

A firing squad is a group of soldiers tasked with the execution of a prisoner condemned to die by the death penalty.

History and specifics[]

In the year 2153, the Denobulan Science Academy asked Charles Tucker II and Malcolm Reed to remove Yolen from caverns before they were all put before a Xantoras firing squad. (ENT episode: "The Breach")

In 2266, the mad Romulan Praetor ordered Keras's family to be executed following the loss of the ChR Gal Gath'thong near the Romulan Neutral Zone. His wife Arenn and son Gaius had been lined up for execution when the praetor changed his mind. (TOS - The Hollow Crown comic: "Issue 1")

Later that year, Romulans captured George Maguire and his pilots. A sergeant ordered them to be executed by firing squad, unaware that they'd escaped and disguised themselves as guards. (TOS comic: "Key Witness")

In 2267, Kor's occupation army on Organia rounded up prisoners and executed them 200 at a time with disruptors. (TOS episode & Star Trek 2 novelization: Errand of Mercy)

In 2369, Worf was lined up before a firing squad by Tokath, but Toq, L'Kor and even Tokath's daughter Ba'el joined Worf's side in protest. (TNG episode: "Birthright")

In 2374, while trapped in USS Voyager's holodeck during Hirogen simulations, Kathryn Janeway faced a Nazi firing squad. She was saved when a large group of Klingons appeared nearby and distracted the soldiers. (VOY episode: "The Killing Game")

In 2376 in the Fair Haven holodeck program, bartender Michael Sullivan once asked whether Seamus wanted Janeway and her friends lined up before a firing squad. (VOY episode: "Spirit Folk")

USS Enterprise crew[]

In the 2260s during his five-year mission, James T. Kirk and his crew faced a firing squad many times. (TOS comics: "Creeping Death", "To Rule the Universe", "For Whom the Bell Tolls", TOS novella: The Prisoner of Vega)

In October 1942, John C. Kirk and time traveling Pavel Chekov were lined up by Nazis and shot at with blanks as a form of psychological torture. (TOS novel: Home Is the Hunter)

In 2267, when McCoy was ordered to hand over the infant Leonard James Akaar to Maab as a row of soldiers held klugats at the ready, he noticed their resemblance to a firing squad. (TOS novelization: Friday's Child)

Kirk, Spock and members of a resistance movement on Morkol knocked out members of a Klingon firing squad and took their place in the execution yard of the Morkolian capital in order to rescue political prisoner Aarkan. (TOS comic: "Spheres of War")
