Starbase 231 was a Federation starbase facility with a planetary outpost, in Starfleet service in the 24th century, located somewhere in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrant.

History and specifics[]

In the year 2365, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Wesley Crusher traveled to the base so that Picard could receive a cardiac replacement at the base, and Wesley could take his Starfleet Academy entrance exams. (TNG episode: "Samaritan Snare")

In late 2373, Starbase 515 was designated the Virogen Task Force Headquarters following the outbreak of the virogen virus in the Federation. (TOS novel: Avenger)

Former Starfleet officer Rha-Teramaet, an Efrosian, spent four months at Starbase 515's medical facilities, suffering from a rare degenerative disease. He died there in mid 2377. (CoE eBook: Turn the Page)
