For other uses, see Carpenter.

The USS Carpenter (NCC-2087) was an Excelsior-class Federation starship in service in the 23rd and 24th centuries.

Service history and disposition[]

The Carpenter was launched in the year 2294.

The Carpenter was listed as missing by Starfleet on 5 June 2334. The bodies of its crew were discovered floating in space, dead of sudden explosive decompression, but no trace of the ship itself was found.

More than thirty years later, the USS Enterprise-D encountered the Carpenter in an alternate universe, where it had been captured by a mechanical race called Mecs. The Carpenter was deprogrammed and destroyed by the Enterprise before the latter ship returned to its own universe. (TNG - Strange New Worlds I short story: "Of Cabbages and Kings")
