Jesteśmy pozarządowym think-and-do tankiem. Wierzymy, że internet jest dla ludzi.

Informacje

We are a civil society think-and-do tank that is making the world more inclusive, more cooperative and more open by changing the way people learn, participate in culture, use the internet and exercise their rights as internet users. We analyze and model ways in which citizens and their institutions fulfill their professional, civic and personal potential with opportunities provided through ICT. Our work produces qualitative research, policy and legal recommendations, roadmaps, manuals, and methodologies. We participate in the transformation of both the system – policies and law – as well as of educational, research, civic and cultural institutions to the changing realities of the 21st century. ------------- Informacja o przetwarzaniu danych osobowych: https://bit.ly/3fq9UrB

📖 The digital use of libraries' vast collections is becoming an increasingly common reality, one we are eagerly striving towards. However, this process comes with many challenges – including complex legal aspects. The European Policy for Intellectual Property Association (EPIP Pisa) Conference is currently taking place in Pisa, Italy. One of the speakers is Konrad Gliściński – our team’s intellectual property expert. Today, he presented the findings of the “Secure Digital Lending in European Libraries” report, in which he carefully researched the standing of digitisation and lending under European as well as national law of all EU Member States. Based on the findings the study considers ways to facilitate the provision of Secure Digital Lending (SDL) by libraries within the norms of copyright law. We will soon be sharing the full report, which we have been working on with partnership with researchers from the Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie's Faculty of Law and Administration and Future Law Lab as a part of the KnowledgeRights21 programme. Stay tuned! 📝

The 8th Copyright Forum took place in Warsaw today 👤📝 Two themes in particular dominated today's discussions: the impact of artificial intelligence on copyright regulation and the assessment of the impact of the July 2024 amendment to the Polish copyright law. There was a lot of focus on the important issue of protecting the interests of artists and creators. However, we must keep in mind that the newly created copyright regulations (including those related to new technologies) do not affect only creators, but also users and institutions carrying out social missions. Among them are libraries and cultural institutions responsible for sharing knowledge and heritage, which includes working at the intersection of technology as well as within the digital realm. It also includes academic and research centers, which bear responsibility for the development of Polish science and innovation. It is crucial that their interests are also secured and treated as a priority within the Ministry's discussions. 👉 You can watch the full broadcast of the Forum (in Polish) on the YouTube channel of Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego): 🔗 https://lnkd.in/d8b-sRfm

🟣 The „Converging Realms” conference does not only feature discussion panels, but practical workshops with experts as well – Kuba Piwowar will tackle ethical data use and Przemyslaw Palka will show us GDPR doesn't have to be as much of a beaurocratic nightmare as it may seem. Registration is still open! The number of seats is limited, so we recommend filling out the form sooner rather than later 😉 🔗 https://lnkd.in/diPQRFkf 👉 Przemyslaw Palka (Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie): GDPR for the active(ists) ➤ We can all agree that privacy is an important value and needs to be protected. At the same time, dealing with GDPR is exhausting, time-consuming, and no one likes all those consent forms. It’s sad to admit, but lawyers have somewhat ruined data protection for us. They’ve turned an excellent instruction for preserving privacy into yet another bureaucratic task that must be completed to avoid penalties… But it doesn’t have to be that way! The interactive workshop "GDPR for the Active(ists)" was created with entrepreneurs and activists in mind, who want to operate in a way that respects people's privacy but also instinctively feel that clicking "I agree" under a long legal document might not be the best approach. 👉 Kuba Piwowar (Fundacja Centrum Cyfrowe): Ethical data analysis and use: what everyone should know? ➤ This workshop aims to raise awareness about the importance of data ethics in today's data-driven society. Participants will learn about the types of data, the potential impact of data on privacy and security, and the basic principles of data ethics, such as transparency and accountability. The workshop will also cover practical examples of ethical dilemmas related to data, such as sharing data on social media and using online services, and provide a checklist for ethical data analysis. __ 🧑💻 CONVERGING REALMS: Law, Technology, and Society in the Age of Ethical and Multi-Agent AI 🗓️ September 26-27, Kraków 🔗 More information and registration for the conference: convergingrealms.pl 🔗 Workshop registration: https://lnkd.in/diPQRFkf __ Organisers: Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie, Future Law Lab, Fundacja Centrum Cyfrowe Strategic partners: Lubasz i Wspólnicy - Kancelaria Radców Prawnych
