But I do remember wanting to get back at someone who hurt me. I think I attached myself to him. I got into his soul, made sure he couldn't move on when he should've died. I remember I wanted him to suffer the way he made me suffer.
~ Andrew telling his story to Jake.
Sucky toy. Not well made.
~ Andrew about his former vessel, Fetch.

Andrew is the secondary antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's: Fazbear Frights anthology novel series.

He is the spirit of a dead child that tortured his killer William Afton by keeping him alive long after his death and later infected numerous toys, one of which being a dog animatronic named Fetch which caused chaos to the friends and family of his owner Greg.

Eventually, Fetch's battery was removed and, with Andrew's soul, was put into the Stitchwraith, leading to him unwillingly joining Jake in his quest to destroy every toy he infected to prevent them from causing anymore harm.

Biography[]

Death[]

Andrew was one of victims of the serial killer William Afton. After Afton was burnt in a fire, Andrew's vengeful soul latched itself into him, keeping him alive against all odds and making him to experience horrific nightmares. Afton was then found and brought to Heracles Hospital.

Into the Pit[]

ITPSixthBody

The Sixth Body in the Into the Pit game adaptation.

In one of Oswald's adventures in the past Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, The Yellow Rabbit replicated William Afton's most infamous killing spree, the Missing Children Incident. Amidst the chaos, the Rabbit lures Oswald into the backroom, proudly showing him the corpses of half a dozen children instead of just five, all adorned with party hats on their heads. It's implied that the sixth unidentified victim is Andrew, or more specifically, a memory of his passing.

In the 2024 videogame adaptation of the story, the sixth body has brown pants, contrasting with the rest of the children having red pants, reinforcing his status as an interloper.

The Man in Room 1280[]

Andrew is first seen by Mia, appearing as a child with black, curly hair wearing an alligator mask. When the nurses attempt to kill Afton, Andrew shows up as a shadow kid, always stopping them. When nurse Hackerman tries to kill Afton with morphine, Andrew torments her with memories of her past, making her revive the death of her son, and then he shatters the vials full of morphine on the floor. When nurse Thomas tries to suffocate William with a pillow, Andrew fills the pillow with blood, and then tears it from her grasp, making it rupture and release its contents all over the room. When nurse Colton tries to inject air into Afton's fore-arm to cause him an air embolism, Andrew grabs the syringe from her hands and stabs her on the neck with it, almost killing her.

After Afton is taken to the Fazbear Entertainment Distribution Center by Father Arthur Blythe, Andrew leaves the killer's body and infects all the objects inside the building with his agony. As a result, Afton bursts and apparently dies.

Andrew himself then ends up possessing Fetch.

Fetch[]

Fetch, Andrew's new vessel, is found inside the pizzeria by Greg, Hadi and Cyril. The next day, Fetch starts sending weird messages to Greg's phone. After Greg gets bitten by his neighbor's dog, Fetch kills the animal, taking its corpse to Greg's backyard. Greg then texts his uncle, saying that he would like to have his "magic finger" (an ongoing joke between uncle and nephew); the next day Fetch attacks Greg's uncle, bites off his finger and brings it to Greg's house, leaving it on the window. In a fit of anger, Greg destroys Fetch and buries him. However, Fetch manages to put his body together and kills Kimberly, Greg's crush, leaving her dead body under a blanket in Greg's bathroom. Greg then he receives one last, creepy message from Fetch, which simply reads "CU" (see you). Greg's fate remains unknown, although Fetch survived the encounter, only to later break down in the rain.

Epilogue 3[]

It's revealed that, some time after the events of Fetch, Doctor Phineas Taggart found Fetch, and has since kept him as a part of his collection of supposedly haunted objects. Taggart uses Fetch's battery to power up the Stitchwraith, an endoskeleton infused with the energy of other agony-infected objects.

Epilogue 4[]

Andrew, now part of the Stitchwraith, meets another soul, called Jake, tells him his story. He says that he was haunting Fetch (revealing that he broke down in the rain=, and that, since the animatronic dog's battery pack is now part of the Stitchwraith's body, he himself was also brought there. Andrew himself can't see anything as the battery pack is not where the eyes should be, and doesn't have eyes to begin with. Andrew also tells Jake about the torment he inflicted Afton, and about how he ended up infecting several objects with agony. Jake says the right thing to do would be collecting all the items infected by Andrew's agony, so as to ensure they don't end up hurting people.

Epilogue 5[]

Noticing Jake has brought flowers with him to the place where he keeps all the objects haunted by agony (including Fetch's broken remains, which were recovered off-screen). Andrew starts asking what they should do with them, but Jake doesn't answer. As Jake starts separating himself from the Stitchwraith's body and feels ready to move on into the afterlife, Andrew starts calling out his name. Jake, understanding he can't leave Andrew alone, decides to stop focusing on the memory and remain inside the Stitchwraith alongside him.

Epilogue 6[]

Andrew and Jake are arguing over whether to kill or spare Detective Larson, who has found their hiding place. Jake takes over the Stitchwraith's body and make it jump into a trash compactor to prevent Andrew from using it to harm Larson. While Jake's spirit gets out of the body, Andrew is grabbed by the soul of William Afton, his killer, who had been attached to him ever since Andrew had latched into him to prevent him from dying. Jake throws himself at Afton and releases Andrew from the killer's grab. Andrew then vanishes, having been set free. Meanwhile, Fetch's remains are absorbed into "The Agony", William's newest form.

Epilogue 7[]

When The Agony is pulled apart by the Puppet, Fetch's remains sink into the lake along with all the other robotics parts which made up the amalgamation. The only piece remaining is its battery pack, which is still powering the Stitchwraith, and is used as the source of energy to help Jake heal Detective Larson's infected wound.

Personality[]

At first, Andrew gives the impression of being somewhat insensitive, not feeling any kind of remorse for all the pain he has caused. In The Man in Room 1280, he shows a sadistic side, keeping William alive for years in order to get back at him, and hurting anyone who tries to stop him. Despite this, he's kind towards Jake, and is seemingly scared of being abandoned by him. It's implied Andew's evil nature is actually a result of his traumatic past and his death at the hands of a serial killer. By the time the sixth epilogue takes place, he appears to have changed, at least slightly, since he now cares about finding the objects he infected and preventing them from harming innocent people. He's also shown to be terribly afraid of Afton.

Speculation[]

  • The body Devon finds inside the yellow bear suit in The New Kid has the same curly black hair as Andrew. This has lead most to assume Andrew's spirit possessed Golden Freddy at some point.
    • It has also led many people to speculate Kelsey himself was just a projection created by Andrew's mind, explaining his connection to the suit, and whu he was mysteriously able to show up alive and well at the end of the short story despite having apparently already died.
  • In the 2024 video game adaptation of Into the Pit, the Pick Up Balloons secret minigame features a boy with black hair going on a goose chase for six balloons scattered throughout Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Once they're all collected, the boy must go to the room where the Missing Children had died, where only five balloons surround him. When the boy leaves, he is violently mauled by Fetch. Because of the boy's appearance and his connection to Fetch, it's often theorized that he is Andrew.

Trivia[]

  • The Fazbear Frights books, and by extension, Andrew, are of questionable relevance to the story of the games. Some believe they are directly connected to the games, while others believe the events and characters in these books are merely stand-ins for their game counterparts.
  • A character named Andrew was originally supposed to be the main protagonist of the story Friendly Face from the tenth book, but he was replaced with Edward. It's unknown whether this Andrew was originally meant to be the same as the one from the epilogues or a different character entirely.
