My next book is still in development, so I'm not sharing *too* many details yet, but I can tell you that it features a recent high school graduate from Tobago who is living in coastal Oregon for the summer after an accident dashed her dreams of becoming a professional singer. It is a contemporary realistic story partially inspired by "The Little Mermaid." (less)

While I'm happy with where I left the characters in Twenty Boy Summer, a lot of readers ask about a possible future for Anna and Sam. So yes, I've often thought about it, and I might even revisit them in a sequel one day. Never say never! :-)

“Weeping is not the same thing as crying. It takes your whole body to weep, and when it's over, you feel like you don't have any bones left to hold you up.”
Sarah Ockler, Twenty Boy Summer

“Every morning, I wake up and forget just for a second that it happened. But once my eyes open, it buries me like a landslide of sharp, sad rocks. Once my eyes open, I'm heavy, like there's to much gravity on my heart.”
Sarah Ockler, Twenty Boy Summer

“I was, but then I realized that I was holding on to something that didn't exist anymore. That the person I missed didn't exist anymore. People change. The things we like and dislike change. And we can wish they couldn't all day long but that never works.”
Sarah Ockler, Fixing Delilah

Sarah Hi Erin,

Your comment means a lot to me. Thank YOU for reading, and for letting me know. <3

Erin Lynn Sarah, I finished The Book of Broken Hearts last night. I was amazed at how well you represented what Alzheimer's can do to a family. My grandma suffered from dementia, so I really related to Jude on that level. It was wonderful. Thank you for such a great book.

Erin Lynn I just started reading The Book of Broken Hearts, and I am loving it! The little pieces of Spanish really make it interesting. I can't wait to see how the book ends!

Also, I just saw you have a new book coming out. I can't wait to get my hands on it. If you need reviewers, let me know. :)

Hi Erin! I'm so sorry you weren't able to find the book at B&N. Thanks for letting me know about this. I've just written a blog post about the situation here: http://sarahockler.com/2013/05/29/the...

I hope you're able to find a copy! The whole situation is super frustrating. :-(

Tara Thank you so much for accepting my friend request:)

I loved your books, Bittersweet, Twenty Boy Summer, and Fixing Delilah! Twenty Boy Summer... I cried a lot through out it. It just felt so real! That's the Only book I've cried while reading! And Fixing Delilah? It was great! I loved how the whole time you wanted to keep reading the book to find out why they left in the beginning ! Then Bittersweet, was a fun book to read. I liked how the story had and ex-best friend, I loved the reason why she gave up on skating, I loved how she got back into it, and how she started helping the hockey team... I thought it was cool how in the beginning the guys didn't want her there, but in the end they ended up all being friends. And most of all I loved Who she ended up with in the end:)

All these books, I read twice because they were so AMAZING:)

Michelle Hi Sarah,

I just wanted to say I LOVED Bittersweet. It was so so insightful. It's so rare that I give out 5 stars, but Bittersweet earned it from me :).

Two months ago, I joined the track team because my PE teacher said that I had a lot of potential, so I got really excited. I didn't really like where I was at at the time, because the people I hung out with were not really close to me. I thought that I could make fresh new friends in track and my new English class. Once I joined, I felt terribly homesick and I knew that it wasn't for me, so I returned back to my old schedule. Although my situation isn't as severe as Hudson's, I still feel closely connected to her, and I understand why she did what she did. Thanks for writing such a wonderful book. I will check out your other books soon :). I would love it if you could read my review of Bittersweet:

Thank you for being uber inspiring. :)
