Julian and Ana's story was not as exciting as I wanted it to be. I liked the premise and I enjoyed the banter between them but I think the whole entire story and the way things played out really worked for me.
They are both vying for the CEO position but neither of them know each other. She wants the job so she can take over her fathers company while he wants it because he has worked for ages to gain his success and rise high in the company and it's obviously the next step for him.
What they do not expect is the reason that they are not right for the job is because they are unmarried nor have a family..
Side note: Ana's dad was neglectful of his wife and Ana while she was growing and this really made Ana somewhat hate her father and add in the fact Ana's mother died after an argument with her husband. He wants the person to take over and balance his life and family the way he never could as after his wives death and his daughter leaving him behind he met someone and fell in love and now balances that life.
Did I like her dad? Honestly? no. I feel like the damage he caused in Ana's life was a lot and I get he regrets it deeply but to me it seemed like a copout for him to want his daughter to be married and have a family in order for her to get his job? Isn't it better that she doesn't so she never will be neglectful like himself?
Anways...
Julian and Ana fake being engaged and are now in the race for the job.
Pranks and problems arise but they cannot deny their attraction and eventually thigns become for them so obviously the end would be they both get the job (like I predicted in the beginning).

Lachlan and Lark are the focus of this book, and we finally get to see what happened between them and I have to say the first time they meet was fucking hilarious and so unexpected and them realizing that after their first kiss was too good to be true.
I feel like the fact Lark was also like Sloane and the rest was not as shocking to me? Obviously, she was way too okay with everything going on and yes, she was all sunshine and glitter concerning her personality, but you had to know there was darkness hidden within her given the events of her past that led to Sloane killing for her.
We also get more of an insight into her parents and how they are a part of a massive crime family who are being targeted and things are getting really messy when they believe Lachlan is the one who might be doing it, and they are plotting his demise. Lark feeling like this could cause a ripple effect on Sloane and her life decides to take things into her own hands and protect him by marrying him so they cannot hurt him or his brothers.
I liked the premise of this book, and I loved the two of them together. However, this a SLOW burn. They do not get together until maybe 70-80% of the book. Though their sex scenes were filthy lol
I was also shocked to find out that Sloane never ever suspected her best friend was like her, especially since she was offing other people like Sloane did. I think I get Lark's reasoning for not telling her, but I also feel like it made their friendship less meaningful to me. Lark hid herself too much from Sloane, so I am glad it was out in the open finally. It was kind of anti-climactic though.
What also bothered me a bit is that the villain of this book is actually because of Sloane and Rowan, and it was them that started the events, kind of wished the villain was more connected to Lark/Lachlan's past, it would have made his reasoning for targeting them a lot more important and meaningful to me.
Despite those issues, I enjoyed it but book 1 is still better overall. Though I have to say I am super excited about book 3 and where that is going! Rose and Fionn are next and Fionn better be over his shitty ass ex. ...more

Bennett and Ella are both struggling individually with their own past and the things that still haunt them to this day, no matter how many years have passed.
Ella gets a job as Bennett's assistant and quickly there is a new twist that neither saw coming, Bennett needs to get married to secure the CEO position and Ella is the only one he has his eyes on being his wife.
While she needs to agree to do this because of the promises of money he makes her and a better life, she does not need all that for herself but for her younger sister who she needs to take care of and secure a better life for.
While Bennett sole reason for being CEO is his determination to get back what his family owns. Bennett might seem like a cruel boss and laser focused on his own plans; we also get to see his vulnerability. His kindness towards his nephews and niece. The kids he has been taking care of for a long time and gave everything so they would be happy.
Despite Bennett and Ella's lives being totally different and the way they were brought up, they share a lot of common interests and goals.
There are a few elements of mystery within this story. We see a different side of Bennett and the lengths he will go to protect those he loves.
I really enjoyed their chemistry and how much they complimented each other. It was somewhat of a slow burn, but it was worth it once they got together.
I still need answers for one side plot but hopefully we will have more about that in the future books within this series. ...more

The book starts right off the bat with Skye going to see her estranged husband Matteo and demanding he sign over the divorce papers after being separated for over a month.
We find out what went wrong with them, and it reveals that Matteo only pursued her to get the hotel his family lost to her father after he made it his mission to destroy Matteo's family for decades all because of a love feud.
When Skye finds out the truth about their entire relationship and marriage she walks away and leaves him. She hides away and he is unable to find her but then she shows up demanding he sign the divorce papers and in return he will get the hotel free and without strings....you would expect her to want revenge for his lies but she is doing this because she is pregnant and does not wish to have the baby with him or be around him.
Well, her plan fails, and he finds out about her pregnancy after she faints, he demands she stay married to him and basically blackmails her and threatens her over it. Scaring her with custody battles etc.
During his POV you find out how he feels guilty about all the lies and wishes he never had to hurt her, but the hotel was a promise he made, and he needed to see it through.
Did he grovel enough? Not really. He did attempt to make her see reason and show his need for her. He admitted to being with her in ways he never was with anyone else but it's not enough and she is hesitating to let herself let him in again BUT she does have a case of BBS...so yeah.
Sadly though, a few weeks after that she has a miscarriage and is left believing there is nothing left for him to want in this marriage and again walks away.
HOWEVER, he admits his feelings for her and how much she means to him, which is everything and that the hotel etc. means NOTHING without her. He basically begs for her to stay and be with him and make another attempt at their marriage and a family, but she refuses until she spends weeks away and realizes he deserves the hotel and meets him again.
He once again shows his feelings and finally reveals his love for her.
This confession and reveal let her make the decision to try again as she loves him, and he has proven himself to her.
We know for certain he never cheated on her as that was never something in his mind and he admits she meant something to him from the moment they met. She even admits that if he had told her the truth about his intentions from the beginning, she would have given him the hotel.
And before we wonder why she never found out earlier about him, well her father died when she was a child and she only found out about the truth from her lawyer when Matteo handed her a contract and it unraveled the lies.
We see them a few years later and they have twins and are still in love. ...more

This one is a pretty insta-lust/love but with slow burn.
Easton and Lexi meet, and their first meeting does not go well at all as he accuses her of stealing his watch and has her fired from her job.
Eventually though his consciousness gets the better of him and he wants to fix his mistakes, so he offers to pay for her rent for a year and they end up meeting at random moments which eventually leads to him making a proposition.
You see, Easten must marry before he turns 40 (which is happening in over a month). He needs to marry in accordance with his grandfather’s request that it will be only way he becomes CEO.
These two both had a shit outlook on love, while Lexi was anti-love and Easten got bored after two weeks with anyone he dated, they were hopeless, and both saw this arrangement as a win-win for them.
There was not a lot of drama for the couple, and while they were only together for like 2-3 weeks they fell in love and got married.
You also would expect someone like Easton who is a billionaire and who seems to only be with women for two weeks to have a long list of women he has slept with, but he reveals it's only ever been with three. He was once in love with a girl who broke his heart when it turned out to be a ploy on her part so after that he closed himself off.
I was kind of waiting for her to show up at some point? To cause issues but it didn't happen and part of me is sad lol
I think because it lacked the drama I was hoping for the rating is only 3.5 stars for me. It's a cute read though and the ending makes the next book really interesting!
Weston (Easton's identical twin brother) helps them come together and protects them as much he can, but it was an ABSOLUTE SHOCK to me when we find out that Weston and Lexi's best friend had PLANNED THEIR FIRST MEETING. They have been playing matchmaker for months when they randomly met a while back and these two have a weekly meetup where they just talk and hang out. It's all a secret but he misses her when she is not around soooo this is going to be fun!

Liv is a single mother to her 4-year-old daughter, she has been working at the reception of this tattoo parlor and has been keeping her private life separate from work and also from her family.
Her mother/sister both treat her like she doesn't have a child but a mistake. Liv stopped bringing her daughter to family functions after she turned 1 and realized her mother/sister are horrible and she needs to keep her daughter safe from their hatred.
I understood her reasoning on keeping her daughter away from them, but she should have cut off ties then too. See her father when he was in town but never let her mother dictate her life or let her sister diminish anything she has.
I however did not understand her not letting her co-workers know about her daughter and once she and Hudson get together (well start sleeping together) she kept her daughter like a dirty secret and that bothered me.
Hudson and Liv start out fake dating for a weekend in order for Liv to show her mother/sister her life is fine, but it backfires. Hudson and she have intense chemistry and end up sleeping together not long after but while Hudson wants nothing serious after losing his fiancée and unborn child, and later finding out she was cheating on him with his best friend and the baby might have never been his, he has become jaded and closed off.
These two had great banter and I really enjoyed their scenes together. She needed a backbone with her mother/sister and when she finally is brave enough to cut them out of her life, I felt proud, but some damage was done already.
The way Hudson found out about her daughter was not how I expected it to go tbh and when Liv moves away after Hudson basically dumps her was her way to start fresh away from that town and her family.
But of course, our HEA would not be possible unless Hudson got his head out of his ass and went after her. Committing himself to Liv and her daughter no matter what.

Graham gets injured right before his team wins the Superbowl. After that he struggles with it and it haunts him which leads him to drive off to a dingy motel in the middle of the desert and leading him to meet Emmy who is running away from her ex-bf who cheated and chocked her.
These two had a meet-cute moment but what Graham never saw coming was her stealing his Lambo when Emmy finds out her ex found her and needs a getaway car.
When Emmy gets back to NY and so does Graham we find out how connected they are without them even knowing. Graham's younger brother knows Emmy. Why does that matter? Well...you see Brody is gay and married. However, his homophobic grandmother made sure that he would never get the inheritance he is owed because he needs to be married to a woman (worded that way). Brody needs money to open up his dream gym and refuses to take money from his brother, so Graham decides to cheat the system and marry to get his inheritance and then give it to Brody.
Sounds like a good plan? Yeah but now to find the girl.
Emmy.
She is desperate enough; she needs the money and her job at the bookstore she loves is at stake. Her world is crumbling, and Graham knows this and uses it to his advantage. He buys the bookstore; we are told it’s to keep it over her head but little by little we find out it’s because he wanted her to have it. He also gets her to sign a document saying she would get a million dollars and the bookstore in their divorce. Making sure she is set for life after him.
We do not actually get married until around 60%. This book is also SLOW BURN. Nothing happens during like the first 40% and even then it's nothing.
He pushes away at every turn; he is not looking for commitment or love. His former fiancée/love left him for his half-brother and cheated for months. Leaving him devastated and hating love.
I did not like how much he pushed her away. He literally never spends ANY time with her because of his fears and instead of growing up he acts a bit childish in his decisions. He hurts her when he spends time away and leaves her.
He left her in the dead of the night during their honeymoon.
I felt bad for Emmy. I needed more for her during this whole thing.
You see Emmy has a heart condition to required her to have surgery once and she is scheduled for another, but she never tells him. He is more focused on his football to see what they could have. She confessed her love for him, and he never acknowledges it and walks away. Spending more time away.
While he is away for a game Emmy gets the divorce papers delivered to her because the inheritance went through, and marriage is no longer needed. She thinks this is how Graham basically ends it with her and signs them and she then walks away towards her surgery.
Thankfully we have Jane her younger sister leaves a nasty voicemail to Graham, and this prompts him to leave right before the game and fly back to NY to be there.
I'm glad Emmy did not fold so easily, I'm glad she made sure he felt as bad as he should. I truly took losing her and everything they had or could have for him to realize his mistakes.
I will say I was more interested in the potential of Jasper and Jane. I loved their banter and I hope we get a book?
OW drama: Graham ex-fiancée who is now married to his half-brother comes onto him during their wedding dinner and Emmy sees them, she thinks he kisses her when he leans in and walks away right then, later Graham tells her he knew she was there (saw her in the mirror) and he never kissed the ex but pushed her away when he leaned in.

This book took me some time to get into the world and the way the magic system worked.
Once I was able to understand about all of it and remember the character names etc., I was able to enjoy the premise.
Elspeth suffered through a fever when she was young which not only led to her being hidden because that kind of fever leads to death and if you do not die then you get killed by the kingdom as they look for kids around that. She is left to stay with her aunt and uncle because her father being too close to the crown needed to protect her, he basically leaves her there and she never lives with him again. She also lost her mother years ago and her dad remarried and had two more kids, her stepmother is your obvious evil one and her siblings are not bad, but they aren't people she trusts or necessary hangs out with though she developed a big friendship with her cousin Ione.
The magic system is all based on providence cards, there are a lot of them, but the most important and dangerous ones are hard to come out and they only have a few of them available.
When she was younger, she touched the Nightmare card and took within her someone who lives within her mind/body/soul. I knew from the beginning it was the old Shepherd King as this was an obvious plot point considering the name of the duet lol
Things progress in the story where she meets the MMC Raven and finds out him and his family plus cousin who the prince are all gathering the cards that they need to get rid of the all the problems in their world. Only with them all together and a sacrifice can everything goes back to normal.
Raven possesses the other nightmare card and he and Elspeth do not initially get along, but this is where it gets fun as they need to pretend to be courting each other in order for her to be able to hang around his home and family without raising suspicion, as she is the only one who can tell when a card is present around her without even seeing it. They decide to ask her help to find the remaining cards with her gift.
We find out that the Shepherd King bartered his soul for the nightmare card, and it was stuck inside of it until Elspeth touched it when she was younger.
Together they want to save Raven's brother who will be the one who is sacrificed when the kingdom finds the remaining cards, the only people who can sacrificed to save the world are the ones who suffered through the fever and lived but sadly Raven's brother is losing a battle with what the fever did to him and since the King knows about him (nephew) he is the one chosen. So, this whole thing is not only to save the world from the mysterious mist but also to save his brother.
The younger Prince (his cousin) is helping them, but his older brother is the one we should be wary about as he seems to be a creep. He is also now engaged to Elspeth's cousin Ione who now possesses the maiden card to make herself look beautiful but the downside the card makes her vapid and empty within too. Elspeth is saddened to know her cousin that she once loved has chosen that path and I have an idea that she is playing the long game herself!
This is a slow burn book since he pretends, he does not want her and finds her a nuisance but you see hints of him wanting her while she finds him attractive from the beginning and wants him back, l it’s slow burn also because they do not kiss until 250 pages in (Chapter 22). We get one somewhat steamy scene when they sleep together but this is mainly YA.
This was a shitty review so I apologies, but it was more about me remembering bits and pieces in case I forget before I read book two lol ...more

Luca and Saoirse's story was pretty much what I expected to be honest. I knew they would not be much of an emotional connection in the beginning when they entered their 2 year ''fake marriage''. I also knew there would be a lot of pushing away from Luca concerning his potential feelings towards her. He seemed to be someone who just did not want to be tied down and it shows in the way he lived his life until he was basically (forced) to stop living his bachelor manwhore lifestyle since he took over as CEO.
I liked Saoirse tbh, she was someone who was easily friends with everyone and was selfish to a fault. She decides to enter the marriage even though she does not believe in marriage at all only to help Luca out. Nothing more.
One thing that bugged me was how Luca refused to be with her sexually in their home because to him it meant it was more than it was supposed to be so they would meet during their lunch break at a hotel like they were having an affair?
Though I will say they gradually became more and more intimate in terms of their feelings are things moved forward.
The scene where he is in fear of losing everything (his own fear) and basically demands she tell him she will never leave him was intense, you could see and feel his desperation. It scared her and this causes them to have a huge fight and for him to basically end everything between them.
They are separated for a short amount of time with Luca coming to terms with his issues and groveling to get her back and actually TALK things through.
I think my main issue with this book was the fact that a lot of the story also focused on side characters that had their own issues and it’s kind of sometimes overshadowed the MC's story.
I also wonder if the gang will ever know their marriage was fake in the beginning?? I was waiting for that reveal to happen, but it never did. ...more

Do I wish I had waited to read this before both books were released so I did not have to sit in silence after that last 10% of the book and the way it ended? Definitely yes.
You must read ''When She Loves'' to fully understand Nero's backstory in this duet. We are told in short number of ways what happened and why he is in exile and pretending for the rest of his life that he is never allowed to be Nero but Rowan now BUT you should read that book to get the full picture of his previous life and what he had to give up and how much it all meant to him.
Rowan (I'll refer to him as his fake name because Nero was dormant), settled in a small town with the one guy he was left with from his former life Sandro (now Sam). These two have no choice but to leave it all behind and start new.
Rowan's way of dealing with things is pretty much the douche way, sleep with half the town when he arrives to fill the void, he feels from never being able to be Nero again.
Blake was born and raised in the town Rowan ends up in and these two do not have the best start, nor does he make the best first impression in her eyes (and after). She is coming off a bad bad breakup after her ex-cheats on her and she is forced to still work for him and live in the same town she resents.
Is this enemies to lovers? No. It's more like ''I don't like you and I think bad things of you because of how you are presenting yourself'' type of relationship from her part.
We also get fake relationship in this one but how long until it ends up being real? Lol While Rowan is slowly becoming obsessed with her and goes to extreme lengths to get her to fall for her (fall in bed with him more like it) until things progress in ways neither saw it coming.
This first book in the duet gives us a better understanding of her background and history which oddly will connect it all to Rowan's past life in a fucked-up way.
It's all ''fun'' and silly in terms of a dark romance book until you get towards the end, and that is when you know shit is about to go down and the peace these two characters felt will seize to exist.
We see hints of Nero come out to play in this one, but I cannot wait for Rowan to take a backseat and Nero to be able to be himself again with no reservations.
I expected something to happen to make me sad, but the choice Gabrielle made was not just sad but heart wrenching.
I cannot wait for the final book, and I seriously am trying my hardest to be patient but thankfully I'll get the ARC so my waiting period is not THAT long!...more

I did not love this and tbh at times I was bored and annoyed with the characters. Mainly with Sera, she seemed way younger than her age (she is 26) and at times I felt like she was maybe 18? I can't describe why I felt this way, but I think it was a combination of her behavior during specific moments.
Matteo was not what I expected? I wanted another Cesar (his father) and we got a watered down version of him.
The whole plot about getting with Sera because Daniel (his friend and Sera's crush) asks him to do it didn't at all play out the way I hoped and when Sera finds out it's mixed in with ANOTHER secret so this whole ''fake dating plan'' was kind of swept under the rug and never really fixated on.
Daniel also pissed me off with how he gave Sera hope for a minute then decided against it and at the end we still do not know if he ever truly cared for her? It was just a mess.
I also think there was too many plots going around this story and it got too complicated at times to keep track of WHO and WHAT is happening, and I have read ''De Lucci's Obsession'' so I had a good idea on who the characters were, but I was still confused sometimes with what.
I think the whole let’s divorce aspect so you can move past the lies was stupid? It really didn't need to happen, and it just gave more drama added on for the sub-plots. He groveled to get her back, but that idea was dumb.
I've kept talking about what I did not like and despite all that I enjoyed the moments where they were TOGETHER and HAPPY. Matteo really was jealous and adorable in his own way, and it was fun seeing him hate Daniel's name ever come out of her mouth.
Also liked Nico/Rez a lot and I hope we get Rez's story with his wife Liz and not just a mention of it in this book. Their story seems to be really interesting, and I would love to read it.
Also loving the hints about Bianca and Sandro? I know they are getting a book after Nico and Ivy who also seem interesting.
I wish we had gotten more information on Matteo's mom’s side of the family who we barely know what’s going with them? I felt like it was a missed opportunity as they were so prominent in the parents’ book.
Another thing I will say if idk how to feel about Luca and his book is next. I didn't like him and from what I have read he does not get any better in his own story so who knows when or if I read it! ...more

This was a cozy book to read. Minimum drama and no third act breakup.
Did I want more drama and a breakup/separation to happen? Yes. I feel like this book could have used it, but I understand why it could have been kept out of the story progression.
Both Legend and Monroe have been friends for ages and when the opportunity comes to Legend to inherit a lot of money by getting married and staying married for a year, Monroe jumps into action and becomes his wife.
Things are all pretend at first and this is a slow burn type of book. Nothing happens well after the halfway point in the story.
They had amazing chemistry and Legend was such a great guy. He truly cared for her and never wanted to be the cause of her heartache or pain.
Maybe I am toxic reader for wanting a fight or drama because everything was just wrapped up into a neat tiny bow.
There is a health scare with Monroe, who ends up in the hospital but is able to make it through but that is all that happens in terms of drama.
At the end they get the inheritance plus a secret extra bit and Legend uses that help the business with his best friends and his parents along with Monroe's parents.
We see the first books couple here having their baby girl.
All these guys are perfect tbh and I cannot wait to read about the women that catches them. ...more

We had a glimpse of Devlin and Lexi in the previous books, so I was happy to finally get the full story!
Devlin is working on behalf of one of his clients to buy Lexi's family-owned Ski resort which has been in her family forever and means a lot to her but unbeknownst to Lexi when she first meets him and to Devlin himself, they have a ONS just a day or so before the meeting.
Despite Lexi's initial reaction to him, thinking he was a liar and trying to scam her out of the property, Devlin really did not know who she was. He feels guilty and this leads to his career at his current job imploding and he quits. He refuses to take this away from her and wants to help her keep it.
In the meantime, Lexi tries to gain the property and keep it, but her grandmother informs her that in her will it states that Lexi needs to be married in order to gain the rights to the place and sadly she is nowhere near that...so enter Devlin.
These two get married in order for Lexi to get ownership and he will help her get funds as well as planning the fixes required. They agree to stay married for up to a year but sadly it doesn't go as planned.
I have to say the thing that bothered me about this one was how late in the book we get them actually being together and in love, it felt like it happened too quickly too and then the book ends.
They do have their ''third act breakup'' moment when Lexi finds out she needs to be married for 5 years or it was for nothing and knowing that Devlin hates staying still and put his career on hold for her, she tells him to go to his new job now and ends it.
I wish this had happened a bit earlier than it happened, so we got them separated for a little longer or something. There was a lot of miscommunications between them, and they just needed to air the truth out no matter how hard it was.
I will say however I loved the way he showed up and showed her how much he loved her and proposed correctly.
Also, kind of wish I did not hate Tabitha throughout the book only for her to be redeemed at the end because I could care less about her.
HONORARY MENTION:
We get to see Winnie!!! I loved her book, so it was nice to see her throughout this story....more

To be honest I will say I did not expect Cillian's book to be so dark - there was something kind and endearing about him in ''Deviant Hearts''. The way he loved his nieces and how protective he was of them despite being in the type of world and family they lived in.
I also did not feel such a strong connection to the MCs in this book then I did in the previous one, I think Una and Cillian did match perfectly to one another, there was not much of an emotional connection I felt throughout the book. It might just be me obviously and I do believe they love each other but emotionally I think these two have a long way to go. They are both dark minded and both possess a certain thought process others would not understand so they have that going for them.
The whole plot surrounded around someone named ''Apostle'' and their mission to kill the ones who killed Seamus (the villain from book 1) who also happens to be Una's father.
You see Una and her twin brother Finn were subjected to his demented ways for years as children and they were forced into the mental ideology he had. When he was imprisoned they were placed in the foster system and suffered greatly both emotionally and sexually. Sadly, her brother Finn, who seemed to be one who took most of the pain (by choice to protect his sister) developed a drug addiction to take it all away and she has been searching for him for 2 years.
Apostle has been keeping her brother hostage until she can fulfill the tasks laid out to her: Task number 1 is to kill Cillian.
She attempts to do so and ends up at a BDSM club Cillian frequents and that meeting where she loses her virginity to him does not go as Cillian might have hoped as she stabs him right after.
Because of whom Seamus was to the Irish mafia and how he was caught years prior - the Irish mafia members are weary about Cillian and his authority so he does something archaic and demands Una marry him (since Seamus was once a part of the Irish mafia) in order to end the war and bring peace the way Neve's marriage did.
Sadly we find out her brother died 18 months ago from a drug overdose and this means that Apostle never had her brother, it was all a ploy to fuck with her and control her. Now - did I know who the apostle was from the moment we were introduced to Dr. Thompson? Yes. It was so obvious and sadly it did not have the same effect on me as intended.
I kept thinking how stupid everyone was to not see the obvious connection, especially Una. She just embraced the lady and trusted her.
Dr. Thompson aka Gail was in love and obsessed with Seamus, enough to marry him while he was in prison, DIG UP HIS CORPSE and place it into her home and live with it too.

Not much to say other than I did not enjoy this. I really wanted to, but the guy bugged me so much. It was lacking actual emotions and an emotional connection.
I felt like his attitude was just odd and badly placed and it would have helped if we had gotten his POV.
She was just enamored with him and gave in too quickly.
Also, I figured out the twist from the beginning, so it was just not surprising to me.
The other twist about his other activities concerning a ''secret group'' was just out of the blue and I felt nothing concerning it since it was misplaced into this story and really gave us nothing to move their relationship forward.
Skimmed through the pages and I know I missed nothing special.
I thought about writing a review for this when I finished it last⭐️⭐️.5-⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really struggled with this.

Update:
I thought about writing a review for this when I finished it last week but honestly I forgot I had read it (and it's only been 5 days) so no usual review from me.
It's safe with no cheating and no OW/OM drama and they have their HEA. There is PTSD and trauma.
This series has been a hit or miss for me with only 3 of the 5 being highly rated. Book 2 is still my favorite.

Edie has had a major crush on her professor for years so when she sees him after a few years at a bar she takes the plunge and goes up to him pretending to be ''Penelope'', this works out too well and the two of them spend the night together.
It would be quite a fantasy come to life until she finds out James the professor is now the CEO of the book publishing company she is working for. Awkward? Yes lol
Now James knew exactly who she was the entire time at the bar, he went along with her fake name but he too held a major crush on her during his time as her professor but never made any attempts to show it since it was forbidden.
The reason these two enter a fake engagement is what I expected, former playboy needs to hold a better image because his company needs it so he chooses her and she agreed.
They spend a little of the time literally being in a fake engagement but slowly give in and they start sleeping together, we all saw it coming so it was not a shock to be honest.
Third act breakup? Yup. The interview they did for a magazine about their engagement did not go as planned and it showed the world that Edie got through college by sleeping with her professor and then got her job because of him too. Ruining her reputation and this causes a major rift between the two.
He finally pulls his head out of his ass and goes after her.
This book had potential in the beginning, but I think somewhere in the middle or after it lost its appeal to me, I was a bit bored and wanted it to be over. They were miscommunicated too much, and it was not fun after a while. He jumped to major conclusions about her, and it bugged me how easily he did. ...more
