Yes, I skipped the first two books. I don't know if I will read them anytime soon, but I wanted to get to this story the most. Single dad plus professor x student trope mixed with fake engagement is great when it is done right, and it was!
I was at first shocked to see there was NO mention of his kid in the beginning only to realize this isn't because he is actually a father until sadly his brother and his sister-in-law pass away tragically and he takes over as the guardian for his 6-year-old niece, whom he loves and adores and cannot fathom not having in his life.
Callan and Layla meet at a random evening and have a one-night stand and that was all this was supposed to be until she walks into his classroom after he is taking a temporary position. Callan is an emergency doctor and that is what Layla is also studying to become so things are already really complicated. These two need to be professional as she also (poor Callan) is working at the hospital emergency room he is in.
At first you just have them trying to figure out their little dilemma but quickly things take a horrible turn when Callan loses his brother and takes Katy under his wing but sadly Katy's maternal grandparents who are only after the life insurance policy connected to Katy want her and will play dirty to get her. Callan is desperate and asks Layla to be his fake fiancée and move in with him and after a hot minute she agrees.
NOW NOW
I knew this would be angsty and it delivered.
I have to say that I liked Callan a lot more than Layla, now there was nothing wrong with her per say but I just enjoyed reading about him and his chapters more. His love for his niece and how far he will go for her was admirable and I wish everyone was like that for children in need.
He fell in love with Layla quickly and he was contemplating never saying anything since she didn't want to be in love after the fiasco with her ex, but he blurts it out.
Callan was not afraid to be vulnerable and show his weakness to others. It was a breath of fresh air for me. He knew what he wanted in life and what he wanted was his niece to be with him forever and Layla by his side.
Sadly, they have a long fake engagement to play out for the court before everything is official and the lady who is in charge of their file is a BITCH and I knew I smelled something fishy with her cause whenever they showed her how great Katy was with them and how her grandparents couldn't even be bothered to come to the funeral let alone ever call Katy (they were distant and never had a scene where we see them btw) she seemed to not give a shit and tried to find every small thing wrong with Callan.
She was dirty. She was promised money from the grandparents to get the kid and that's why she acted that way, thank fuck it was found out about before Katy was sent to live with them! That scene where she attempts to bolt was too funny.
I think my main issue was that it did not need to be this long of a book? It could have been 50-70 pages less and still worked for me.
There were also a lot of references about Layla's older sister and husband who have their own book that I never read so I was a bit lost around those parts but that is all my fault lol ...more

First of all: I finished this 680-page book in less than 24 hours - I started around 10am and finished by 9pm. I read it nonstop, could not put it down and was obsessed with finding out what was going to happen next.
The best way to describe this book is that this is a great mixture of The Words and No Tomorrow if they had the things I wanted to happen, happen. That's all. This book though is its own story and journey.
This is such a beautiful and powerful story of two people who met by accident and who spend 15 years desperately missing each other but never having the chance to be together because of the outside influences who keep them apart.
Hawk is a famous rockstar and Wren is one his fans, this book spends a lot of time going back and forth from the past and present. We see how things play out throughout the years and honestly, I appreciated being SHOWN events rather than just being told.
Scenes with H and other women I will place this here because I know most people want these types of info: H before he ever meets h, and I mean even before he knows about her existence has two scenes with two women in the very beginning. And we are told about his sexcapades BUT BUT he is celibate throughout the years (15 years) from the night he spends with Wren. Nothing ever happens between him and another woman ever again. His choice to be celibate as Wren haunts him. I skimmed these scenes as it didn’t bother me, but I didn’t want to read them.
h not celibate during those 15 years Wren is not celibate during the15 years they are apart; she admits she slept with a few guys and tried to date them, but it never worked out.
Hawk fills his life with rock’n’roll, sex and drugs and this causes a lot of issues for him, but nothing ever makes him stop living that life. The daughter of the record label boss Victoria aka Tori wants him, and they have a hate-sex thing happen and he only does it because she’s easy, there and to piss off his bandmate who loves her (don't feel bad for him).
Tori is a viper; she is poison, and she was absolutely awful. He knows it too.
We see Hawk now in his early 40's with the band on hiatus for 5 years after his divorce and fallout with his bandmember, his wife was caught cheating on Hawk with him and this leads to him freeing himself from marriage. I’ll explain what I mean by FREE and how he was still be celibate if he was married but first let’s bring Wren into the equation.
Hawk finds a box filled with fan mail and he finds a few similar letters with drawings, and they are from a girl named Wren, her last letter is about her attending his concert and that is all he gets from her. He feels a connection between him and the letters and tries to find more but is unable to.
We are transported back to the past where Wrench ends up at the show, and backstage but Hawk is so high and off his mind he only ever calls her ''Bird'' and forgets Wren and most of that night. They spend hours hanging out, playing music and she loses her virginity to him. leaving behind a bracelet for him and he has been wearing that since that night and never takes sit off as he is haunted by ''Bird''.
He does not put two and two together and once again remembers how his life changed forever, Tori and her father after a few months from that night threaten him because he is being accused of sexual assault (but we are told by Hawk that he has been celibate since that night with Wren so whatever he is accused of is fake) but sadly to protect his band he marries Tori as that is the only way to save everything. So, he does, but he never EVER EVER EVER sleeps with her, lives with her nor even entertains her advances.
Their marriage was an absolute farce. A joke. He had to pretend so his life and his band mates lives would not be destroyed. He was powerless and Tori used it to her advantage.
He also never sleeps with anyone else ever again. He spends the next decade married to her but is freed when she cheats, and she reveals info about the record label, and he uses it as leverage to end their marriage.
NOW WREN spent the next 15 years raising their daughter. So how come she never came forward?
First off: Tori's finds out about the baby via the letters, and goes out to Wren, tells her Hawk wants nothing to do with her, signed away his rights and will pay her 50k to keep her mouth shut forever, and is forcing her into submission. Out of fear Wren agrees and the next day Hawk is engaged to Tori.
You see where this is going right??
Hawk finds out about the three missing letters via Tori's NOW husband, the bandmate (Lewis) who has loved her and is stupid enough to forgive her own cheating on him etc...
Anyways the three letters revealed that Wren was with a child, and she needed him, but he only ever finds out 15 years later by LUCK. He immediately wants to find her and when he does, he knows she's ''Bird'' and he wants nothing but to be with her forever as all he has ever wanted was a chance to be with her.
Honestly, it's all heartbreaking. They were forced apart by Tori and her father, as they plotted a fake police report about the sexual assault accusations and forced Hawk to marry her etc.
Hawk refuses to let go of his girls, he immediately loves Cooper who is now 14 and he wants Wren to be with him, he needs to prove himself and he does for a week until people find out about their connection, and he is forced to leave her behind to deal with damage control, but this puts a damper on everything he tried to build.
We also find out while Hawk is with Cooper that she has known about him being her father for a few years now. She found the documents were mom signed and googled him. She felt abandoned but once he explains the truth, she is able to see how much of a victim everyone involved is.
Finally, once all the pieces are in place, he rushes back for her and Cooper. bringing them to LA as their life in the small town is dead, people have hated Wren for ages, and she has been bullied all her life because of her own father’s mistakes. It's the whole thing tbh.
Hawk is freed from Tori, her father and record label once they are able to prove a lot of shit on them and even have caught Tori confessing to drugging him and putting holes in his condoms the night he meets Wren, because Tori had plotted to sleep with him while he was drugged and get pregnant but instead he sleeps with Wren and she’s the one who gets pregnant.
A lot of other stuff occurs in this book as it is almost 700 pages but honestly, I loved it.
I do WISH that there was a conversation between Wren and Hawk about how she lost her virginity that night because he never knew but I can live without it.
This book made me sad, mad, happy and every other emotion, but I enjoyed the journey.

Ava has been dealt with the worst hand I think I have ever read for a book FMC. One by one she has lost her father, mother, and younger brother in the span of just a few years. She is about to become homeless as she cannot afford her family homes mortgage. She cannot afford to pay for the utilities, so she lives in the house without water or electricity or food.
One night she decides to live a little bit before it all implodes and indulges in life. She meets Whit who we come to find is a famous rock star. He is incognito in the bar and picks her up and it is NOT because he is a manwhore, he is actually a single father and has been celibate for ages (probably since she was born). He cannot stop but feel the pull towards Ava and takes her to his hotel room.
Ava lies about her virginity, and he never finds out about, but they spend the night together but never exchange names. She never knew who he was even after as she does not own a tv, has a prepaid flip phone and the radio in her car was stolen years ago. Her entire life revolved around her working or surviving.
In the morning, they go their separate ways but sadly her boss fires her because she witnessed Ava hooking up with Whit and earlier that evening wanted him for herself but he rejected her so out of spite she fires Ava and refuses to recommend her to other places.
Ava loses her home (basically kicked out) and is forced to live in her car. She finds a job at a seedy bar and continues to live in her car until a kind older man named Francis offers his couch and she accepts.
Francis was the definition of an angel tbh. He was the sweetest man and he loved Ava. He was her savior in the moments she needed the most and never wanted anything from her.
HOWEVER,.... SURPRISE
Ava passes out after feeling horrible and it's revealed she was pregnant (well we knew but she was oblivious) and had a premature baby.
The whole thing is captured on video and is famous, Whit sees it and believes it to his child.
You see Whit has not stopped thinking about her and immediately regretted not getting her contact information but needed to be home with his little girl. He wishes he could see his mystery girl so when he sees her, he flies out to see her and also finds out if that is his son.
In the midst of all this we are introduced to a few side characters: Allie, Elijah and Val. Allie and Elijah (one of his bandmates) have been best friends for YEARS and he trusts them completely. Val is the bands manager and his financial manager. She seemed to be always on top of things for him and always having his best interest, but you soon find out that she is evil and plays a massive, horrible role in their story.
Whit remains by Ava's side after a first encounter, and they are there for their son Michael. Whit refuses to leave her side and delays the release of the band’s album. Pissing off Val.
They follow a basic routine since Micharl is in the NCU.
Sadly though, during this Francis passes away, leaving Ava alone once again with no home but Whit refuses to allow it and moves her into the rental home and takes care of her. They gradually give in to their attraction and fall slowly in love but of course not everything works out for Ava right?
If you thought Ava would get a break then you are wrong.
One day Val shows up at the hospital and informs Ava that Whit is going to go back to LA for his band and life and he will leave Ava alone. Val being a great actress gets Ava to believe but at the same moment Michael goes into respiratory arrest and the scene is muted since they are in room with him, and Ava/Val are in the hall watching through the glass. Val goes in after the doctors seem sad and comes out to tell Ava that Michael has died.
Ava distraught, leaves and runs off.
This is where Val is pure evil: She lied about Michael being dead, the doctors just said that he needed more time to recuperate. Val lies to Whit about Ava leaving and puts her stuff in garbage bags, sends it to Ava with a note from ''Whit'' along with ASHES.
Allie being the best friend anyone could ask for knows something is up and tells Whit things are fishy with Val and finally Whit wakes up and realizes it too.
Ava is found after a month or more and is told her son is not dead and that Val was behind it all, even going as far as faking a death certificate.
VAL HAS MORE SHIT ON HER PLATE BUT OMG. How fucking horrible?
AND FINALLY, AVA catches a break and Whit confesses his love for her and his future plans that all involve her.
This book was emotionally draining.
Every second I felt like another bombshell would hit Ava.
Despite everything she went through, she was so brave and never wanted more than what she could get. She didn't see Whit as a bank account.
Whit was an idiot, but he also trusted someone who always made him think she was trustworthy.
I'm glad this got an HEA because if anyone deserves one it was Ava lol

The premise was there but it was the overall execution that just did not work for me.
The fact she totally forgot (while she was SOBER) that she married Jameson was insane to me. I swear it is so out of place to have that occur. I would have preferred it if she was drunk, or Jameson had somehow faked the marriage license or marriage. That would have been more plausible than Aria FORGETTING FOR 6 MONTHS.
I liked how he was obsessed with her and deeply loyal to her even after just ONE DAY. Yeah it was too fast in my eyes, even for a novella.
The conflict ends up being about how Jamerson spent 7 years in prison after his drunk driving leaves a 16-year-old girl handicap for life. This is a very touchy subject to Aria as her parents were killed by a drunk driver.
I was a bit confused on how Jamerson was so rich, but it was probably his inheritance or his tattoo shop ranking in a shit load of money that made him this wealthy, but it was never specified.
Also, massive turn off when he refers to himself as Diablo during sex and makes her say that name. yeahhhh no....more

What do you do when your ONS you just met from swiping on a dating app turns out to be the newest member of the hockey team your father is coaching?
You scream and throw papers at him, ignore him as much as you can, avoid him at all costs.
What do you do when your ONS turns out to be the coach's daughter who ran off in the middle of the night and deleted her profile?
Crash every single date she goes on and basically give her no room to breathe when it comes to avoiding you, because you have become obsessed and fallen for her.
Zach just showed off how much he is willing to do to get the girl of his dreams. Every time he showed up wherever she was too funny because you know someone was helping him get the information.
I understand why Izzy pushed him away, after her horrible dating history with men and the fact he was a new player. She was scared of what it could mean if she gave in and how much damage she could do to either of them if things did not work out.
Again, this was a slow burn after they found out their real identities. They do have sex right in the beginning when they meet up, but we do not get them together for quite a while.
Each time he took a step towards getting her, she would (literally) run away.
There is no third act break up in this book, but we do get a small miscommunication when she gets assaulted at the party they are attending, and he beats the crap out of the guy and he gets arrested. And he thinks he fucked it up with her while in reality she was fearing for HIM not of him.
I liked her dad a lot, the whole thing about him possibly not being okay with their relationship was not true at all as he had figured out everything long before they told him, and he never implies he is unhappy about the pairing but instead is able to help Zach see he does belong with her.
There is real OM drama in this book, as Izzy wants to find a bf but gets set up with guys who are no match to what she feels for Zach and nothing ever happens with any of them....more

It's really hard to review this book without spoiling anything that can give the whole plot away.
This is a heavy book to get through. Jax is such a complex character who is struggling after the events from Detained where he lost his best friend and ''brother''. That loss is still felt everyday by Jax, and the impact will never truly go away for him. When you read his POV and see how much Kai meant to him, you understand his feelings about being lost.
At the end of Detained we see Jax reveal that he slept with his brother’s wife and that in itself was an insane declaration but who would have thought the story behind it all was even crazier?
Sofia is set to marry Jax's brother, but things do not go as planned and things are forever changed that day. She meets Jax and they spend the night together both knowing it cannot be anything more. All that I will say is that do not feel bad for the brother.
Things are never as they seem and that night haunts both of them for different reasons. One lucky (or unlucky) chance brings them back together, but the past is never far behind for either of them.
There is one particular character (not the obvious villain) I had so much hatred for. Their behavior and constant belittling or resentment was unjustified, and I felt NO sympathy for them when it all was revealed.
The banter between the new characters (Nikolai, Alexei, Lara, Mikhail) was a lot of fun and I cannot wait for their books within this series.
The love and chemistry between our MC's were off the charts. You just know they were meant to be together. I loved their moments and even when things were not sunny and rainbows, they made sense. There was a balance they each brought to the other.
Jax's struggles in this book are a hard pill to swallow and I advise everyone to take the SW/TW's seriously and check our Luna's note in the beginning of the book.
Just remember that not all that happens in this book is what it seems and Jax deserves the benefit of the doubt because without Luna's comment about a particular moment, I would have thrown this book (well my kindle) out the window....more

FINALLY this book saves my feelings about this series (well not really but it saves me from thinking it's not all a dud).
If you have never read the entire series then you should read this one at least!
I love the accidental/surprise pregnancy trope, and this was done so well. Sprinkle in the grumpy/sunshine trope as well and you have my hooked.
Josh and Lynsey were perfect. From their first meeting and eventual evolution to their relationship they are just so good. I really enjoyed every moment of it, and never felt bored nor that I hate/dislike the MC's.
Dr. Dick was very present throughout the first parts of the book but once you understand his reasons for his behavior and attitude towards a lot of things you start to forgive his outburst and paranoia. He was once a child oncologist, and he was the doctor for his best friend’s child but sadly the child passes from cancer and Josh is blamed by the parents. This propels him to stop working with children and start becoming an ER doctor thousands of miles away.
So, when Lynsey ends up pregnant his first reactions are not good, and it is causing Lynsey to doubt his intentions and actual commitment to raising this child.
You witness in his POV his constant worry about something happening to her and the baby while she is pregnant, he literally cannot stop himself from thinking the worst of every situation.
Despite all these issues, they have such great chemistry and are obsessed with one another but because of his commitment issues they just have a sexual relationship while living together. Obviously this will not end well, and she falls for him deeply while he is still closed off.
I'm glad we understood his past and THANKFULLY we did not get another ex-drama type of book in this one as we have in the previous two.
His grovel was amazing and I loved it, he showed Lynsey that he is serious and madly in love with her. His fear was just getting in the way and he is working on it and it also helped that his former best friend showed up to let him know that if he had picked up the phone when he called or tried to contact him he would of known he was never to blame and he was missed.
They get married and have their little girl. It's all so cute and domesticated!...more

We had a glimpse of Devlin and Lexi in the previous books, so I was happy to finally get the full story!
Devlin is working on behalf of one of his clients to buy Lexi's family-owned Ski resort which has been in her family forever and means a lot to her but unbeknownst to Lexi when she first meets him and to Devlin himself, they have a ONS just a day or so before the meeting.
Despite Lexi's initial reaction to him, thinking he was a liar and trying to scam her out of the property, Devlin really did not know who she was. He feels guilty and this leads to his career at his current job imploding and he quits. He refuses to take this away from her and wants to help her keep it.
In the meantime, Lexi tries to gain the property and keep it, but her grandmother informs her that in her will it states that Lexi needs to be married in order to gain the rights to the place and sadly she is nowhere near that...so enter Devlin.
These two get married in order for Lexi to get ownership and he will help her get funds as well as planning the fixes required. They agree to stay married for up to a year but sadly it doesn't go as planned.
I have to say the thing that bothered me about this one was how late in the book we get them actually being together and in love, it felt like it happened too quickly too and then the book ends.
They do have their ''third act breakup'' moment when Lexi finds out she needs to be married for 5 years or it was for nothing and knowing that Devlin hates staying still and put his career on hold for her, she tells him to go to his new job now and ends it.
I wish this had happened a bit earlier than it happened, so we got them separated for a little longer or something. There was a lot of miscommunications between them, and they just needed to air the truth out no matter how hard it was.
I will say however I loved the way he showed up and showed her how much he loved her and proposed correctly.
Also, kind of wish I did not hate Tabitha throughout the book only for her to be redeemed at the end because I could care less about her.
HONORARY MENTION:
We get to see Winnie!!! I loved her book, so it was nice to see her throughout this story....more

After the disaster that was book 3 (in my opinion) I hesitated to read Reckless in fear it would not live up to the expectation and the hype surrounding it.
I get the hype and I get the love it had received but book 2 is still my favorite (so far) Beau's book might change that but who knows?
Theo was a great MMC, he was fun, and I loved being inside his head. He truly changed throughout the process of the series BUT I could not get over the fact he was not around for 18 months?? He never visited the town to see her or his friends, even for a day? He was there before and had seen him on and off in the town so the fact he was MIA for so long was a bit bothersome to me. I get that he was on the road, training etc. but it still felt like a way to prolong his shock about the baby.
I LOVED their banter though, so despite that little hiccup, I still enjoyed their chemistry.
I also appreciated the fact he went and changed himself for the better in order to come back and be worthy of her but again it took a little too long. What did he think was going to happen? She would somehow be waiting for him after all this time and the absolute silence. It was just odd and as you can tell it didn't sit well with me despite that fact, I loved the moments of them together after he got back and realized that Vivi was his daughter.
He stepped up right away and was the ever-loving father to her and protector.
That momentarily lapse of judgement when he doubted her paternity after her ex-husband demanded a paternity test out of spite was a bit warranted and expected. Even Winter agrees it was due.
I would have loved a scene with Winter and her mother in this book, just to see her being put down by Theo and even Winter but I will settle with her father coming back into her life to make things right (but let’s be honest it will never be a great relationship after all this time).
We also get a better insight into why Winter treated Summer the way she did for so long and I will say I get it to a certain degree. I did like seeing their bond grow and how they were more comfortable around each other, also the fact they finally decided to report Dr Douche to the board and get justice.
Meaningless OW/OM drama: We get a scene with a former hookup of Theo’s trying to hit on him and get with him, but he shuts her down. We also have Winter’s ex husband stalk her and try to rile up the paternity of Vivi for a hot minute. ...more

I really had fun reading this, I liked the way it was easy to get through. I also did not expect to really like Tyler as he in my head was supposed to be this arrogant asshole who thought he was a gift to women all around the world but instead we got someone who was pretty much the opposite and had a good head on his shoulders.
I see that some people dd not like Chloe, but I did. I loved her banter and stubbornness, but I also understood where she came from on a lot of the things that happened and how she retreated. I honestly would have done some of it too.
These two meets randomly and it leads to them having an incredible night of sex. Sadly, Chloe is a bit of a pessimist and rips up his number and kicks him out the next morning after they have a bit of a fight. Weeks later she finds out she is pregnant by him and once she tells him because of course the new CEO of her company is him lol
I was a bit shocked to read in the beginning is that he would be taking over a new job in the USA as he is a ROYAL prince and the next in line for the throne, but we got a bit of the Harry situation happening where he resigned his position and left the crown behind.
Despite the initial shock of her pregnancy, he takes it all in good stride and proceeds to basically have to force her to spend any time with him, but Chloe isn't having it for quite some time lol
Although they do not get together right after the baby reveals and weeks of being around each other, they eventually end up together and once they are Tyler (not that he was not committed before) is the ultimate boyfriend/baby daddy. He protects her and makes sure she is set for anything she requires. There is a scene where Chloe reveals what happened to her parents when she was 17. Everyone believes they died in a car accident, but she truly believes they died on purpose as a double suicide pact since her father was losing his mind and he refused treatment and his mother did not want to be without him. That was heartbreaking.
Sadly, once their relationship and her pregnancy are out in the open it’s free for all the press to print out every story they can and every lie they find. It is too overwhelming and Chloe leaves Tyler (we also find out right before that scene that he is planning on proposing to her). They spend the next few weeks apart and Chloe does not talk to him, but he never stops being a father to their twin...right I forgot that part haha they are having twins haha. He sends videos of himself reading books so Chloe can play it for the babies.
He eventually proposes to her, and this seals their forever. The family drama from him should have been better resolves for me though. I wished he had not had the whole family come and say their apologies and we get nothing after? We do not know where they all stand so it was a bit vague.
The epilogue gives us a quick look into the future where they are married, he is away from the royal life as much as possible. Still living in Seattle and Chloe is pregnant again!
OM drama: Insignificant date Chloe had and also a guy who talks to her at a bar once she reveals she is pregnant to Tyler, but Tyler shows up and basically destroys the guy’s chances (not that he had any.
OW drama: There is an arranged dating situation going on in the UK for Tyler by his family, he never sleeps with the woman and only had one date and one small kiss. The whole situation is fabricated for the press and the girl also causes a bit of issues with the lies she keeps feeding the world which made Chloe believe their engagement and that he might have cheated on her with Chloe - which is not true. And also, the other CEO of the company Chloe works at is made to look like the new love interest for Tyler but it's all a fake story and once she finds out that Tyler/Chloe are together with babies on the way she tells the world, and this causes more issues for the couple.
I am glad Tyler got his revenge on Hazel (the other CEO and the one who hurt Chloe) by unleashing reports about her to the press but I wanted to know WHAT it was and Chloe’s reaction to it. ...more

I kept seeing this book everywhere and everyone was talking about how good it is and how much they loved it so obviously I had to see it for myself!
I might not have LOVED it, but I did enjoy it to the fullest. It's not by all means my favorite book of the year but I can see why so many have placed it into their own list for 2023. I just felt like it was a bit slow in the middle for some reason hence my 4-star rating.
The two main characters (Bo and Win) were perfect together and for each other, I loved their banter and how quickly it felt so comfortable between them from the moment they interacted. It seemed so genuine and fun so no wonder they had sex the same night but I have to say that despite what she said about it being fun and no attachments he should have STAYED a little bit longer after it, and not have left RIGHT AFTER they had sex and I literally mean right after but I also get it since that's what was agreed upon but it was still bittersweet.
Despite that mishap, when she revealed to him weeks later that she was pregnant his reaction was a much better one then I had environed. They had not spoken since that night and even if Win was afraid of how he would feel, it was clear to us he was absolutely beyond happy to have this happen since he never thought he would be able to be a father after his cancer diagnosis and treatment.
He provides her with safety and comfort during this hard time, they move in together and co-habitat while figuring out their life as co-parents. They such a healthy relationship and friendship.
Despite the early start of the book with their intimacy this book after that is a slow burn, we also get a bit of a confusing set up with Bo and his ex on/off girlfriend Cora and how he feels about her even now, it's not wrapped until towards the end of the book, but again this OW drama is small and meaningless since he confesses he called her right after the first night she moved in and got closure from her and has spent months pining over Win and wanting for her to realize it too.
They finally confess their love for each other and start an official relationship which was nice to see for a bit in this book, we also get a great epilogue with them years into the future where they have more kids and are even more in love. Win's career dreams have come true which was nice to see since it was something she had dreamt about for a long, long time.
I should mention that I loved Win's best friends (who are married and have all known each other since they were kids). Their relationship was sweet and fun throughout the book....more

Did I want to love this? Yes Did I just like it? Yes
I myself couldn't believe I gave these 3 stars when it had all the elements I love in a book, but it just didn't work for me? I don't know if it was the insta-love component, the Mexico babymoon setting or the pace?
I wanted them to have more time to figure things out regarding their feelings, I know that for some it happens quickly but they both have a lot of baggage before they dive into something so serious. I also wish the Mexico babymoon had not last SO much of the book, I wanted for Tess to be back in her LA setting and for Solomon to step foot into it the way that she went to Alaska after the babymoon ended. I just wanted more of a REALISTIC setting rather than a vacation.
When they were in Alaska, I really enjoyed it, I read it much quicker and went through it in one sitting.
I also know that some of readers were not the happiest with the dead wife trope and her being in his head, but I didn't find it at all a bad thing. He had a life before and they were not in their 20s... he is 35. She has been dead for 7 years; he feels absolute guilt over her death and the thoughts in his head that were from her? It was never a bad thing, Serena (his ex) wanted him to be with Tess, wanted him to be happy.
When they sleep together, and no names was given I was wondering how the hell will they find each other since he never leaves Alaska and if he does, he will not be going to LA, and she will not be in Alaska either so the fact he sees her on TV was funny. Casually having a beer and boom there goes his ONS on tv, and PREGNANT!
There was one character I could not stand and that was Evelyn - Solomon's eldest sister - who was also his ex-wives best friend, and she was SO AGAINST him moving on after 7 years?? She was just an extra character that brought unneeded drama and despite her act of kindness at the end, I still could not like her.
Tess has a traumatic childbirth since she loses a lot of blood and goes into shock, this causes Solomon to retreat into his darkness until thankfully she wakes up and they are able to go home and raise their son.
I should mention that he was celibate for 7 years after his wife died, and also after him and Tess have sex. He basically lived like a hermit and was living in a cabin making furniture. ...more

SOOOOO
The OW drama was TOO much lol but I'll get to that in a little bit.
Shaw and Emi have a ONS that results her in getting pregnant. Emi decides to lose her virginity to a random stranger because she wants to destroy her chances of being forced to marry this Russian guy who seems unhinged. Her plan works....Shaw however has NO idea about any of this. He is then forced to marry Emi after he brother (capo of Italian mafia) basically threatens his life. He reluctantly agrees but the issue is he just got back together with his on/off gf who he now has to break up with and tell the truth. I should mention he was SINGLE and had not slept with someone in a long time prior to sleeping with Emi.
His ex-gf is a constant fucking issue during this entire book and his constant choosing her over his wife is infuriating. There we so many instances where he just would (figuratively) shove Emi away and choose his ex. It was annoying after a while, and he never really groveled for hurting Emi? His best friends HATED his ex and yet he never saw the massive red flags for what they were until it was too late?
Emi is sexually assaulted by her former forced fiancé and in the same room? Shaw's ex who helped the whole thing! Thankfully this was the moment Shaw gets unhinged and kills her after she faked her own pregnancy and made him believe he had fathered her child as well.
This book got 3 stars only because of everything OUTSIDE the OW drama.
Thankfully Shaw never touches or wants his ex in any sexual or emotional manner but he does allow Emi to believe he still loves her for far too long.....idiot. He also says things like ‘’I hate you’’ and it obviously hurts her, and he knows it but he just pretends it’s justified in a way because of how he was made to be with her but at the same time he says over and over that he would never change it and would CHOOSE her.
Emi was weak during times I needed her to be strong. She should have made him work for forgiveness more and not allowed herself to be thrown away too often.
OM drama: Emi has an old fling (only kissing) that she used to tell Shaw he is not the father once she finds out that his ex is pregnant and wishes to free him. Nothing happens. ...more

Calyspo and Sebastiano have spent the last 6 years both dealing with the loss of one another. They were madly in love and after spending their first night together Calypso wakes up alone and with no word from Sebastiano. He vanished and she is left to deal with the consequences...she ends up pregnant.
For the next 6 years she is raising her son and living a very modest life. She is barely able to keep her business afloat and fate brings these two together again - well when I say fate, I mean Sebastiano planned the entire thing to get her to show up in his office and beg for help which all comes with stipulations.
After spending another night together, he finds out about the son he never knew he had and forces them back to Vegas to raise him and have her by his side forever. These two never stopped loving each other, it was always there, and it was just an impossible situation.
Why?
We find out that she was made to believe he was getting married after they slept together 6 years ago and that is why he disappeared, she was given a wedding invitation by his father, a letter received later on with his handwriting explaining how she meant nothing, and all her calls/messages left unanswered. She had gone begging his family for answers and they cruelly let her believe lies. Caly finds out that her so called best friend betrayed her.
HE was forced to leave right after that night and go to Italy as his father had threatened to kill Calypso if he did not leave the girl, she was not part of the mafia world and never accepted. The worst of it though: Fina who is his sister and Caly's former best friend (from high school and why he and Caly met) was in on it, she never approved of their relationship and made sure to lie and deceive him into believing Caly was happy and wanted nothing to do with him etc....another player? His mother, who is a wonderful forger, wrote that letter using the info the sister had to make it legit. They were more upset about him renouncing them and kicking them out than the fact she broke her son’s heart.
These three people all played a vicious role. He puts his sister/mother in their place and renounces them forever. His dad is dead, so he just gets to rot away.
Sebastiano LOVES her, it is so obvious in his anger towards his family, during the moment he found out the truth. The fact he never knew any of it was heartbreaking. These two both believed the other abandoned them. Their HEA was so well deserved, I truly felt his pain when he realized the last 6 years was lost because the people who claimed to love him forced his unhappiness and forced their love to be torn apart.
We know that she was celibate the entire time they were separated but nothing is said about him and his past, but I am certain since he didn't say it back to her when she told him she had not been with others that he has been but again it's never discussed nor brought up in this POV. ...more

Two things I could not stand in this book: 1) His mother 2) His MOTHER
I don't care that she got help at the end for her alcoholism but she really was a nut case and she truly just did not care for anyone or anything. She was selfish and annoying. She treated everyone around her with manipulation and disdain. I could not get behind her ''turning point''. She didn't redeem herself in my eyes and her reasons were just pathetic.
The romance itself was too insta for me, they went from just talking to instantly letting the boss/employee relationship out the window and sleeping together. I expected a better build up? They barely knew each other, and they both also didn't remember much about each other. Reisha didn't even remember his name when she got hired.
Why is that important? Well see, Reisha's mother was his family’s cook for years until she was 13 years old, and she remembered seeing him around but last time was when she was 8 and he was 20. Now, she states that Sierra (his younger sister) was her best friend, and she spent all her time in that house and with Sierra but she didn’t remember the brothers name?? It was weird lol
In any case - it all happened too fast. They were together for a few months before he went and got a ring to propose, but shit happens that separates them for weeks and honestly it was pathetic. Nobody figured to check her mother’s address? his private investigators are not good at all.
She was also pregnant by that point and devastated when he just didn't come for her. It all got wrapped up too quickly and I felt like he was a grown man who still did whatever mommy wanted from him and after a while it got pathetic.
His mother had Reisha ''arrested'' but basically manhandled and kept illegally overnight by the security company around the residence area. She was treated horribly; her phone was destroyed and she was made to look like a criminal. It was so disturbing how that was glossed over too quickly - I needed justice for this but all we got was ''I am having them investigated''. Okay?
Sierra was also insufferable - she just followed her mother around the world for what? She was 26 and should have cut the cord when she felt suffocated but instead enabled the actions her mother did.
Overall, this book focused way too much on the mother and her actions and what she would think of their relationship rather than their actual relationship....more

We finally get Millie's story!
This story involves Millie who is a wedding planner currently planning her ex-bf's wedding to a girl he was introduced to by Millie. To be honest I thought the ex-bf would be an absolute jerk to Millie or have some horrible actions made towards her, so it was really refreshing to see someone who was kind and was truly thankful for her help and for being introduced to the woman he was marrying.
However, that same ex-bf has been looking for his biological father (Zach) who just happens to have had NO idea he had a 28-year-old son and also happens to be the man Millie has a ONS with while she was in NYC.
They both cannot stop thinking about each other after that one night and they are separated for about a month. He gave her his business card, but she never used it. You could tell how much that one night had affected them.
Imagine the absolute shock and horror when both of our MMC's see each other at the rehearsal dinner. Unable to admit their true connection. I was horrified for them both when they blabbed each other’s name in front of everyone and were grilled about how they knew each other. Obviously they gave the G rated version of the night, but I swear you could hear the panic through the pages.
They cannot stand to be apart and their attractive is so prominent. They sneak around and basically have a secret affair, meeting in different cities for a few nights and lying to Mason (his son). Both in fear of what he would think, what people would say and also the massive elephant in the room about the fact Zach does not want to get married again or ever want to have a child. All these things are more reasons why they cannot work and despite telling each other over and over again that it's wrong and they should move on they cannot.
I understood their fear and I also understood why Zach was how he was. He never wanted any of these things, but I think he never found anyone that was worth wanting these things with. I'm glad he realised she was it and he wanted to give her everything she deserved and despite the fallout with Mason told him the truth (albeit Mason knew lol he saw them briefly). Also, I had to applaud Mason for never holding a grudge about their relationship - yes he was hurt but it was only because he wanted the truth and was lied to.
Another thing was Zach was truly freaking about being someone’s father, it was overwhelming for him since he never imagined it and now he was also going to be a grandpa??
One thing I really appreciated was how there was no big dramatic fight scene just for the sake of it. They both truly knew it would be near impossible for their relationship to work if the things that stopped it would forever haunt them. Millie never lashed out or made any childish decisions < so refreshing.
Millie was fantastic, she was ambitious, and I loved how caring she was. Zach was the ultimate alpha male - he had a dirty mouth on him that made me blush a few times lol
The proposal scene was really on brand with Millie tbh. It worked so well with her fashion show!
PLEASE READ THE EXTRA SCENE! We get to see them around 5 years or into the future. They are married and have two children.

I will say this duet could have just been one book as the cliffhanger from book 1 was not the main conflict in this book. They do spend months basically being strangers while co-parenting and living together but it gets resolved pretty quickly by Graham QUITTING hockey and refusing to move to Washington in order to be with Emery and their daughters. He doesn't see the NHL as his dream anymore and being a father and being in love with Emery is what he wants to focus on.
Graham finds out right after Emery and him get back together that his mother has stage 2 breast cancer and is undergoing chemo. He goes home to Tennessee on his family’s farm to spend time with his mom and be by her side while she goes through this with the support of Emery.
Eventually Emery joins him in Tennessee and decides after a few weeks two things: 1) They should get married (Graham has wanted to get married since book 1) 2) To quit her job at the law firm and stay in Tennessee for the time being
I understand why these two quit their jobs and they can always go back into the field in one way or another. Graham can coach or be a commentator as he says, and Emery can pass the bar in Tennessee and open her practice which is why Graham bought her a building to use one day whenever she decides to go back.
I loved Graham - he was such an incredible character to see grow and become a great guy. He was absolutely committed to Emery and his daughters. He was a great family man, and I was proud of his personal growth.
We see what is going on a year later and they are expecting again (a boy this time) and his mother is in remission!
The only reason I gave the book 3 stars is because it could have been done in one book and it felt like it dragged on for longer than it should have. ...more

I decided to read this after seeing a post on the authors Instagram and it matched the mood, I was in so I dived into this duet. I have never read any of her books and I skipped the first 3 and even though a lot of the characters from previous books make appearances I knew pretty much the gist of the relationships/friendships between everyone to feel like I was confused.
We meet Graham who is known for being a massive player and having a girl for everyday of the week. I would have preferred if he was not such a pig tbh - it diminishes his initial reaction to our FMC who he says he has wanted and liked for years but then went off and slept with TONS of women and had a daily rotation going.
Emery is the sister of the first books MMC and Graham is one of his best friends. Hockey player and she's just graduated school and is a lawyer. I loved her ambition and we got to see the flashbacks of the moments that defined the relationship these two have with each other.
They eventually hook up and they both can't stop wanting each other, Emery hates that she wants him but isn't looking for anything special or a relationship which leads her to sleeping with him more and more while he is falling for her.
He does not have any relationship/sex with another woman after they initially hook up and we find out that he has been celibate for about a month prior to that. We do not get any former hookups showing up to cause drama and honestly part of his life dies out pretty quickly which I was happy about.
She ends up pregnant and these two spend the remainder of her pregnancy growing their relationship and feelings. They end up finding out they are having twin baby girls. While Graham is happy and excited for this new chapter, Emery is freaking out. They both lie to different people about being engaged. Graham lies to his mother and sister, and she lies to her boss and law firm partners/client.
At the end Emery has the twins and the last part of the book is a breaking news segment showing on television where they inform the world that Graham has been traded and is moving from Chicago to Washington - this is something that was never mentioned in the book, and I am sure will come as a massive shock to Emery and everyone involved. ...more
