Song writer and music teacher Sylvie Morgan is a few weeks from leaving Havenport and her dreams behind to start a new corporate job she doesn’t want.
Just before she’s about to go, she meets Wyatt Ford who just moved to the charming fishing village or Havenport, Massachusetts to mend a broken heart, follow his dream of becoming a brewmaster while starting an apprenticeship at the local brewery.
The two have electric chemistry and instant connection. He falls for Sylvie’s talent, beauty and kind heart. She senses he’s protective and sweet, and witnesses how he wears his heart on his sleeve. It’s impossible not to like both characters, but I especially loved Wyatt’s support towards Sylvie.
Even though the story is short and fast-paced the characters are well developed and their story is lighthearted, sweet, and steamy. I can’t wait to come back to Havenport and read more of Daphne’s stories.
➵ Facts: Dad Bod Bartender is a standalone novella by author Daphne Elliot. Told from both POV with a happy ending. Other tropes: insta-love | small town

Leilani Kaeloha grew up under her family’s beliefs, especially that she’d stay inland and commit her life to a Hawaiian. But that’s far from what she wants, which is to see the world and be free to find herself. She never would have imagined the East Coast “white man” who’s made a name for himself in the surfing world would be her answer.
Son of a senator Mason Price had everything he could possibly desire for except the one thing he actually wanted, his parent’s love. He has no desire to continue leading a life without meaning regardless of his parents’ expectations though. Set on facing fears and chasing dreams while riding the world’s waves, he comes across a gorgeous woman determined to bring him back to her island. What he truly finds is a kindred spirit. But can they overcome the racial differences that threaten their blossoming relationship?
“But when an adventure-bound guy, who could have anything, sits in front of a girl with enough fire in her to make every step of the journey ahead a glorious fight? She becomes the only thing he wants.”
Oh boy! I didn't just enjoy this book, I LOVED it! I feel bad for the books that followed because after reading Rule Breaker I felt as though every book should be measured against this one. Of course I won’t do that because every book and genre is different and I’m like John Lennon and give books a chance. I sure I won’t be able to do this book justice but I felt the need to try to express just how great a book this is.
“If we don’t search out our best selves, how can we expect to give that to anyone else?”
Ever since I picked up my first Kat & Stone book, there’s been no doubt in my mind that I’ll continue to read whatever they produce. They not only create wonderfully alluring characters intertwined in interesting plots, their writing is simply gorgeous. Just as I finished the first lines, a friend asked what I was reading. I copied the lines I had just read and told her “something entrancing”
“The wave can kill…or save. Its staggering force humbled—kicked my ass often. But when I pointed toward the curling crest, shot up from its thundering energy, then caught perfect air…the rest of the world faded. Breath. Pulse. Wind. Spray. Gravity…ruler of all.”
They have this incredibly unique style and manner of description, whether it’s a feeling or a place, that’s meant to be savored even though I practically read the book in one sitting because the story kept me hooked and flipping pages until the very end. Even the chapter titles are stimulating: Enticing Negotiations, Watched Over by Stars.
“A primal urge vibrated under my skin: to prove to her whatever electric thing was happening between us sparked hotter than something physical, that we were connected on a deeper level.”
Beyond the sharp tongued and appealingly rebellious Leinani and the risk taking, charismatically cocky Mase was their challenging relationship. Mason just wanted to find and master the next big wave, but once he saw beyond Leinani’s façade he sought out to seduce and conquer her mind, body and soul. Something that was no easy task due to racial prejudice.
“The longer I laid there, the more my mind came alive—wishing all people valued every last person. One race, a human nation. Earth and its inhabitants. Wars would cease. The destruction of the planet would halt. We’d all work toward the common goal of helping mankind more than just survive…we’d seek to flourish as our best selves.”
Rule Breaker doesn’t just involve important topics such as tolerance towards racial differences, it also encompasses environmental issues and touches on Star Wars… what? Ok so the latter has nothing to do with the two other serious matters but I’m I fan so I couldn’t leave it out.
To be able to make a better board without poisoning the environment? “Pure genius… And you want me to represent the brand…” And by association, spread a message of conservation, protection of our planet.
I should probably tell you more about the romance between Mase and Leilani and pick quotes that depict either their sweet and tender moments, the tears-on-the-verge-of-spilling-over touching ones or their yummy sexy ones. But as I look at my review now I’m almost certain I’ve surpassed my quota. So trust me the connection these two develop is wonderful.

I loved having Cade, his sisters and Hanna make cameo appearances in a very supporting capacity as I met Mase in the No Wedding series.
There’s no two ways about it. I’m going to wax poetic about my favorite authors and Kat & Stone Bastion are most definitely on that list.

Drew Amhurst. Singer. Composer. Rocker. Bad Boy. Completely swoon worthy. Being in the music industry at a young age put him in the path of temptation. Even though he’s now older and wiser, he still has his demons to battle, but perhaps the gorgeous Bronte can sooth his raged edges.
Maybe it wasn’t about fixing what was broken and then handing it over; maybe it was about merging our pieces into one.
It’s also worth mentioning that Drew was a fantastic Not-Dad (inside book joke) to Bronte’s youngest daughter Amelia who kept interrupting them in the most adorable teen like fashion and who Drew just loved on with his impossible to resist charisma and sage advise.
“One step at a time. The only thing that happens when you stand still is that the world keeps on spinning, sweetheart.” ~ Drew to Amelia
➵ Heroine: 5. Bronte Connors. Divorcee. Mother of three, including Branden Connors, Drew’s protégé (from Provoke, novella 3.7. She loves her children but getting pregnant at 16 deprived her of all the fun shenanigans teens get into. Of course it’s also made her an independent woman who doesn’t need to rely on anyone. Not even the super sexy rock star who’s offering to help get back her groove.
“I could spend the rest of my life staring at you and still see something new across your face. I will be fascinated by you until the day I die.” ~Drew to Bronte
➵ Sexiness: 5. Bronte had a crush on the rock god since she was a teen and Drew went gaga over her since he first met her. They had a wonderful witty, flirty rapport and a deep appreciation for one another which made their chemistry explosive.
“You’re breathtaking.” I leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her lips. “Devastatingly gorgeous.” Another kiss to the side of her mouth. “My tongue’s favorite taste.” ~Drew to Bronte
➵ Feels: 5. Raw, angsty, swoony. The snippets show you the swoon, what’s raw is the fact that Drew has lived hard and fast and has a lot of baggage and doesn’t want to burden Bronte with it, but in order to truly be together, they both need to open up and help each other, which was beautiful to read.
“You’re my favorite song because everything you do is like music.” ~ Drew to Bronte
➵ Secondary characters: Three words: The band chat! It was funny and ridiculous and I loved it.
➵ Plot/Pace: 5. This is a flirty, sexy, swoony and angsty story which I read in a single sitting. Its fluid pace and hooking characters allowed for nothing else than to flip pages until the very end.

Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Joaquin Ramizez had been wanting to find “the one” but he never expected to find her while on the job. Taking photos of a crime scene where the suspect was none other than the main person of interest, ex-US army captain Mia Starr.
While the evidence of the soldier homicides point towards her and the police have no other suspects, Joaquin believes she’s innocent and will stop at nothing to help her. Can she trust him with a secret that could wreck her? Can he protect her from the real killer?
I had been waiting for Joaquin’s story for years and when I was finally in my hands I enjoyed every second of it. He had been a great secondary character and as the hero he’s even sweeter, stronger and more protective.
Joaquin is super sexy (I could just imagine him teaching Mia how to dance hot, passionate salsa), sweet and brave. He’s very different from the rest of the male leads in the series so far, but every bit the alpha hero.
Mia is just as strong, brave and sweet, perfect for Joaquin. I liked her directness and resiliency especially in the face of harassment while in the army.
Pamela Clare never disappoints. I’ve loved this series since the very beginning and each installment is unique and incredibly hooking. It’s expertly crafted to read as a standalone, but if you’re a fin it ties in perfectly with the previous books.

The I-Team crew have found themselves doing some pre-Christmas celebrating at the same Pamela Clare redefines my view of unputdownable!
The I-Team crew have found themselves doing some pre-Christmas celebrating at the same hotel. Kat and Gave Rossiter checked in before the newspaper’s party to get some alone time. Sophie has tempted Marc into later finding an isolated place of their own, Kara and Reece are attending the annual British Consulate General’s party. They’re all there for a few hours of entertaining but a malicious group of radicals have different plans for the hotel’s guests.
No sooner had their night started when in the blink of an eye situation turns deadly. And while the quick action of Holly, Marc and the gang helps some escape and throws a wrench in the terrorist’s plans, they’re definitely in grave danger and running out of time.
While their friends and loved ones are inside, some held at gunpoint some trying to help out, Darcangelo, McBride and Nick Andris will do whatever they can to help the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team to save the hostages.
This story blew me away and reminded me just how much I love Pamela Clare’s writing. Dead by Midnight is sexy, sweet, touching and thrillingly explosive. It’s a seat at the edge of your seat, heart stopping story without respite from one moment to the next. I enjoyed every single moment from beginning to end. The storytelling is so good that I felt as if I was watching a suspense movie unfold right in front of my eyes. Having it be told from various points of view, including the bad guy’s, gives the reader a thorough and detailed description making it very exciting. It could hardly be considered a novella.
I really liked catching up with all of Pamela’s I-Team characters which all skillfully share the spotlight in this well-constructed plot. The girls are smart and feminine and the guys are tough and commanding but also love so deeply, they’re completely swoon worthy. They’ve grown as couples and friends, some expanding their families with little ones. I loved that there were cameos by some interesting men I certainly want to get to know from the FBI Hostage Rescue Team series by Kaylea Cross. They’re certainly going to my to-read list.

With her marriage over and tired of continually failing to uphold her family’s expectation, Callie Sutherland has realized she needs to live her own life and go after what she wants. Finding something to do with her love for art and baking would be nice, but what she really wants is her ex-husband’s best friend and business partner.
No matter how he spins it, Cash Hale is Scr3w3d! He’s been in love with his best friend’s girlfriend, later wife and now ex-wife since the all met. But his friend made the first move and now he’s stuck in the friend zone because he’s nothing if not loyal and wouldn’t dare violate the bro-code… except for her. Will he risk his business and friendship to be with the woman of his dreams?
The novel explores Callie’s newfound independence as she ignores her parent’s wishes to reconcile with her cheating ex-husband and searches for her true purpose and happiness while Cash struggles with his undeniable feelings for Callie, his loyalty to his best friend and his outlook on life and relationships based on his own father’s deception. Cash and Callie’s friendship went back for year as witnessed through flashbacks, but the extended freedom they were given with Callie’s divorce allowed them to test the boundaries of that friendship and give into their attraction although still within their own contrived limitations due to Cash and Beau’s friendship and business dealings.
Quite a lot of self-discovery, budding romance and sexiness happens, and Cash and Callie are certainly endearing central characters, yet I was never fully hooked. A romance full of everything from a divorce party to bro-code breaking confession, Jamieson writes an entertaining read that even with its even keel will surely produce lots of smiles
Screwed is a standalone contemporary romance by Kelly Jamieson. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.
