hm. okay. i think i liked this one slightly less than Fangirl Down. it was a bit more unrealistic and cringy, and the spice wasn't as bad this time around or maybe i just knew what to expect now. i didn't really like Tallulah as a fmc as much as i liked Josephine, but i did like Burgess way more than Wells. Chloe was entertaining af tho, glad she's getting her own book.

Charming, funny, and romantic, with hot sexy times. What more could you ask for?

After being injured and dumped from major league baseball, Travis wants to lie in his rut forever. But his best friend’s little sister Georgie just won’t let him. See, Georgie may be a clown (she does birthday parties), but she is tired of not being taken seriously. And she has had a serious crush on Travis since she was a kid, so she’s not going to let him flounder if she has anything to say about it. Just as Travis starts to get his shit together, he gets an amazing offer from his agent– but his bad boy persona has got to go if he wants to get the job. And Georgie realizes she needs to make some moves and stop clowning around (see what I did there?). So they decide to fake date! Like you do! And the deeper they get into their faux relationship, the more Travis can’t seem to keep his eyes (and hands) off of her.

I was really charmed by this story. It’s not perfect, but Georgie’s resilience and sense of humor go a long way. Georgie is fun, funny, independent, speaks her mind, and doesn’t take any of Travis’ shit. Watching them interact, I actually chuckled out loud during some of their more combative moments. She’s trying to get both her family and the town to stop seeing her as the little sister and recognize her as a competent adult and businesswoman. She does some growing, some changing, and in the process, sees Travis for who he really is, not just her childhood crush, and falls in love with him.

It’s also fun to watch Travis fall head over heels for Georgie without being quite aware that he is doing it. See, Travis is a bit of a stick in the mud. Damaged, broody, sarcastic, and destined to be alone (he thinks). When Georgie comes dancing into his life with her optimism and hilarious one-liners, he gets knocked on his ass, emotionally. The good thing about the book is that Travis doesn’t backtrack. Once he starts moving forward, he sticks to the path– he doesn’t succumb to his man pain and ruin everything. He does, eventually, ruin things, but it’s ok. It’s a romance novel, there’s a happy ending.

Don’t let that cutesy cover fool you– the sexy times are really hot and sexy. Woo, boy! Someone on Twitter said Tessa Bailey is the queen of filthy bedroom talk and they were damn right. 4 stars.… (more)

This killer romance just about killed me dead.

Holy smokes! Bailey has written the perfect alpha marshmallow. Myles is aggressive, rude, disinterested in life, and totally besotted by Taylor. The first time he spots her he literally thinks she is as "cute as a button." What self respecting alpha male thinks that? Myles, that's who!

I loved Myles. I loved his struggle. I loved how emotional and vulnerable he was around Taylor, even if he didn't speak/show it. Every time she did or said something, his heart clenched or he got sweaty or he desperately wanted to kiss her. He's big, he's tattooed, he's unshaven and rides a motorcycle and he is a total dummy about his emotions. It's great.

Taylor is cute as a button, btw. She wears her heart on her sleeve, expressing emotions and showing vulnerability that just discombobulates Myles in the most perfect way.

Of course, a Tessa Bailey book is nothing without some serious steam. And it was hot, hot, hot! Taylor surprises Myles with her heretofore unspoken desires, but he is a quick study. They both feel an overwhelming attraction for each other and it quickly turns handsy and passionate. But Bailey really blends physical with emotional development and it felt natural for these two to fall in love so fast.… (more)
