Magic Fire (Shifting Magic, #1) by Catherine Vale
This wasn't bad, not quite what I expected though. This was urban fantasy but more like lighthearted urban fantasy. The plot's enjoyable enough, characters are likable - they're just all slightly too sweet for my tastes. Good start to a new series with an interesting premise.

I kept thinking this was familiar. So I went searching in my library and finally found it. It originally had a different title and author name. A lot of changes in this version; The title, the author's name, character names and a lot more completely revised.
I never finished the original. I read up to chapter 4 back in 2013.
I liked this version. It was much better than the original.
All the revisions in this new version greatly improved this story. For the most part it managed to keep my attention.
There are a couple of editing errors.
I will definitely be exploring her writing more in the future.

I'm not going to shelve this under chubby heroine because it wasn't really a part of the story. It was mentioned inconsequentially a couple of times but that was about all. (2.5 stars)
