Mario Party

Jump, Man is a recurring minigame in the Mario Party series. It first appears in Mario Party 7, as a single-player Donkey Kong minigame, and returns in Mario Party: The Top 100, as a Special minigame.

Gameplay[]

The player's character has to race Donkey Kong up a series of four ramped pathways. Both characters have to climb colored ropes along the the way to travel up to the next ramp. Donkey Kong and the player's character also have to jump over any barrels headed their way, because if either character touches one, they become stunned temporarily. Whoever makes it to the end first wins; the finish line is right next to DK's Tree House.

Game data[]

  • Rules: Run up the ramp and reach the top before DK does, but watch for the barrels! Say, this looks familiar...
  • Advice: If a barrel hits you, you'll be stunned and lose time. Time your jumps carefully.

  • Description: Dodge the oncoming barrels and reach the goal before Donkey Kong!
  • On-screen: Dodge the barrels and reach the goal before Donkey Kong!

  • Trivia[]

    • Jump, Man's gameplay is inspired by the original Donkey Kong game, and even Toadsworth notes the familiarity in the minigame's rules.
      • Furthermore, the minigame's name is a pun on "Jumpman," one of Mario's alternate names during the development of Donkey Kong-1986 (for the NES).
        • And by extension, since the player must avoid the barrels, this resembles 25m (the first stage out of the 4 in the original Donkey Kong).
