Appearance[]

Kokone has short, dark azure hair that frames her face, with bangs mostly brushed to one side and a pair of clips opposite of them. She has a partial braid on one side of her head, and over her bangs is a curled lock. She has sharp cyan eyes. She wears a white top with a ribbon, a navy pencil skirt with a black belt, and a blue jacket. Her dark-colored boots are worn with black tights. In the summer, she wears a cerulean top beneath a sky blue camisole along with pale blue jeans and white heels. In the winter, she wears a dark turquoise top with a short blue and dark blue-striped skirt, black tights, and black knee-length boots. She also wears a light blue coat as well as a small turquoise pendant.

In the movie, she wears a white cardigan over a cyan dress shirt, as well as dark cyan shorts. Her boots are brown, while her socks are gray.

As a child, she had longer hair tied into twin tails with two pink ribbons. She also wore a blue puff-sleeved dress with a white frilled collar and short-sleeves, pink buttons, pink belt, pink bow patterns that are adorned at the fringes as well as white bottom fringes, and red shoes.

As Cure Spicy, her eyes brighten and her hair turns bright blue. It grows in length and is worn in a curled side-tail with a thin streak of pink through it. At the base is a large circular braid of blue and pink, held by a blue bow with an ornament resting on blue scalloping. She gains silver earrings where the left one is a spoon and the right one is a fork and a blue choker on white fabric. Her dress consists of a dark and bright blue corset with gold buttons. The chest and sleeves are pale blue with a hole at the center and a bright blue cuff. A blue gem heart rests on the blue bow on the chest. Her long scalloped skirt is cyan with pink lining and dots of pink and yellow, presiding over a ruffled pastel yellow layer and white frilly petticoat. On her waist is a large blue ribbon and flower-shaped apron with pink and indigo lining, adorned with small pink and blue bows. She also wears dark blue tights with blue and yellow boots with a pink bow, and pale blue gloves with a bright blue cuff.

In her Party Up Style, her hair lengthens while the blue ruffle on her hairpiece grows in size, resembling a hat. On top of it is a turquoise ribbon with blue, purple, pink, and yellow flowers resting on it. Her dress turns light blue with the sleeves lengthening and the holes on them closed up. The bodice covers the top part of her body more. The brooch on her chest is replaced with a giant white flower with a blue heart in the center. She also wears a blue belt with a gold circle-shaped buckle in the middle. The skirt grows longer and wider with an extra pale blue layer on top. The giant bow in the back turns sky blue. Her apron is now larger with blue and pink accents and four flowers at the bottom that match the ones on her hat. Her boots now have white ruffles and pink V-shaped decorations on top. She no longer wears gloves and has a gold ribbon-shaped ring with a pink heart in the center of her middle left finger.

In her Children's Lunch Dress, her hair grows longer with the braid showing a larger pink section. The ruffle on her head turns light blue with a small matching scalloped bow with a pale yellow lining and green and purple spheres throughout it. Her dress is light blue with sleeves that reach to the middle of forearms gathered in a blue cuff and a long open skirt. The bodice has wing-like sleeves and is cerulean near the top with a green and purple sphere in the middle. The bow on her chest is replaced with a ruffled blue ribbon at the bottom. The waist area is also cerulean with green and purple spheres in the middle and yellow stripes on each side. The shorter skirt underneath has two pale yellow layers with green and purple circles on each one and pale blue ruffles lining each layer. She wears short pale blue gloves and cerulean and yellow boots with pink ribbons decorated with green and purple spheres on the top. On her back is a giant blue and white checkered bow.

Personality[]

Kokone is a fashionable, cool beauty. She's a 2nd year middle school student who loves make-up and cute things. She is admired by many people, but she prefers to be alone, and doesn't speak much. She is, however, sympathetic and kindhearted.

Initially, Kokone struggles to communicate comfortably with others, but with the help of her friends, she is able to open up and be comfortable around others. She also gradually learns to be honest with her parents about her own feelings.

Relationships[]

  • Pam-Pam: Her fairy partner. She comes to adore Pam-Pam upon meeting her, and is willing to be her friend.
  • Nagomi Yui: At first, Kokone felt shy when approaching Yui, but after eating with Yui and watching her fighting for a good cause, Kokone decides to let Yui be her first friend. However, despite being friends with Yui, she spent some time overthinking her friendship with Yui, and read a book about how to be a good friend. Kokone is very thoughtful of Yui, and makes sure to explain subjects in a way so Yui can understand the subjects better.
  • Rosemary: Initially, Kokone finds it difficult to properly communicate with Rosemary, but they soon resolve their misunderstanding and become good friends.
  • Hanamichi Ran: Kokone initially had difficulties being friends with Ran because of their differing opinions. She even held herself back as to not upset Ran. But they later became closer friends after accepting each other's differences. Due to knowing how Ran's mind works, Kokone is able to explain subjects in simple ways for Ran to understand said subjects better.
  • Todoroki: Her family's butler who takes care of her when her parents are not at home. She respects and cares for him.
  • Kasai Amane: Kokone is very reserved around Amane, and shows respect by referring to her with honorifics until Amane asked her to drop them. Later on, she teaches Amane the importance of consideration, who in turns helps her realize she has learned a lot from her parents.
  • Fuwa Hatsuko and Fuwa Shousei: Kokone loves and respects both her parents, although she struggles to communicate with them, as they are always busy with their work, and a childhood incident makes her afraid to burden them emotionally. However, she later reconnects with them by eating donut holes and being honest with her own feelings, and they begin to rekindle their bond with her as well.

Etymology[]

Fuwa (芙羽)?: Fu ()? means "lotus"[1], while Wa ()? means "feather"[2]. The pronounciation of 芙羽 is "Fuwa", and in Japanese, "Fuwafuwa" means "fluffy"[3]. This expression can be used in a lot of ways, just like "fluffy" in English. It can be describing how fluffy the bread is, or how even feelings can be "Fuwafuwa". This means 芙羽 is a pun not only because Kokone is the Cure with the bread fairy, but also because of the fact that she is beautiful and graceful.

Kokone (ここね)? has no meaning, but similar names with "Koko" use the kanji for "heart" ()?[4], which alludes to Kokone's love for Heart Bread and her catchphrase that features the phrase, "Spice For Your Heart".

Cure Spicy is having the quality, flavor, or fragrance of spice[5].

History[]

Childhood Incident[]

One day, when Kokone was a little girl, she and her parents passed by a donut shop. She was interested in the donuts and begged her parents to buy some for her until her aunt came and told her that she shouldn't be so selfish as her parents have to work and look after her. Since then, coupled with her parents' increasing workload, Kokone became too afraid to express her desires to them, causing a rift to form between her and her parents. DPPC23

Strange Encounters[]

While walking down a street, she sees Kome-Kome in front of a fruit shop. She quickly realizes Kome-Kome is trying to buy some carrots, so she buys some for her. Sometime later, she sees Kome-Kome fly over a wall. But when she turns to leave, she meets Pam-Pam. She asks the fairy if she can fly like Kome-Kome, and is stunned when Pam-Pam speaks. Just as she picks Pam-Pam up, Yui and Rosemary appear. She gives Pam-Pam back to Yui, who asks if she has seen Kome-Kome. Kokone tells her where she saw Kome-Kome go.

Sometime later, Kokone is walking through Oishiina Town again when she sees Yui and Rosemary confronting Gentlu. She witnesses Gentlu summon an Ubauzo and Rosemary create a Delicious Field before fainting. With the sun now setting, Kokone wakes up just as Precious and Rosemary reappear. Precious flies her back home. Kokone ends the day eating dinner by herself.DPPC03

Making New Friends And Becoming Cure Spicy[]

As the new school year begins, Kokone still remembers Precious bringing her back home before. She is assigned to Yui's class, but has difficulty opening up to her peers. However, she begins warming up to Yui, after Yui helps her finding a baby rabbit from the breeding shed and then invites her to have bread together.

When Gentlu once again summons another Ubauzo, Kokone is told by Yui to run to a safer place, but she gets dragged into the Delicious Field due to Pam-Pam's powers. She then witnesses Yui transforming into Precious, much to her own surprise. Pam-Pam then apologizes to her for bringing her into this mess, but Kokone forgives the fairy and vows to fight against the monster with her and Yui. This makes her resonate with Pam-Pam, thus granting her the Heart Cure Watch. With that, Kokone transforms into Spicy for the first time, and helps Precious to defeat and purify the Ubauzo. Afterwards, she resumes eating out with Yui, and is happy that she gets to make new friends for the first time. DPPC04

Bonding With Friends[]

Despite feeling happy about having new friends, Kokone struggles to communicate with them, and acts awkwardly whenever she tries to talk to them. She goes shopping at Pretty Holic with Yui and Rosemary, but thinks she's being too pushy despite both being fine with her love for make-up, and becomes self-conscious when she struggles to peel a carrot. She starts to lack confidence when she overhears Rosemary saying that he might not be her type of friend.

Wanting to be liked, Spicy tries to fight Gentlu's Ubauzo by herself, although she keeps failing. Precious and Rosemary confront her, and Spicy finally admits that she feels like she isn't good enough as a friend because of her mistakes, but Precious and Rosemary remind her that they appreciate her own unique qualities, which helps Spicy regain confidence. She later enjoys dinner with her friends, with a newfound sense of self confidence. DPPC05

After Ran joins the team, Kokone wants to bond with Ran, but conflicts arise between them because of their different opinions on trivial matters like revamping Ran's CureSta page. As she believes that she has been too opinionated towards Ran, she decides she should go with the flow instead. But when they try to babysit Kome-Kome, they argue over what's wrong with Kome-Kome.

With their unresolved disagreement, both Yum-Yum and Spicy are unable to cooperate with each other. While Yum-Yum argues that it's better to act first, Spicy believes that thinking things through is preferable. But after listening to Precious's advice, Spicy decides to adopt Yum-Yum's approach, which helps Yum-Yum purify the Ubauzo. Afterwards, both girls learn that being honest with each other is the key to fostering their friendship, and they become closer friends. DPPC09

Learning To Enjoy Food[]

Upon learning that the class will be having a picnic from their teacher, Kokone is eager to use the picnic as a chance to have fun with her classmates and even puts the most efforts into making the lunch. However, she only ends up being uncomfortable in front of her classmates, unable to enjoy her food as a result.

After telling Todoroki that she felt tired after the picnic, Todoroki takes her to a place where he has a special memory about hotdogs. There, Kokone learns that enjoying food is a priority. Therefore, when Narcistoru steals Todoroki's memory by summoning a Motto Ubauzo, Spicy is determined to retrieve it and manages to purify it with Delicious Spicy Bakin'. Afterwards, Kokone gets to enjoy food with her friends.DPPC15

Bonding With Amane[]

With her parents' permission, Kokone invites her friends to her family's restaurant. Although she manages to answer all the questions correctly at the end of Amane's lesson, she figures that Amane is being too serious about manners that Yui and Ran are no longer having fun. She later kindly tells her friends the importance of manners and helps them with picking clothes that suit their preferences, which catches Amane's attention.

That evening when the girls walk home together, Kokone is humbled by Amane's gratitude towards her, and explains that she is merely repeating what her parents taught her. She is happily surprised that Amane feels like she was rewarded by learning what consideration means, before leaving and wishing Amane farewell.

The next day during the fight with Narcistoru, Spicy protects Finale from the Motto Ubauzo's projectiles. When Finale asks why she thanked her yesterday, Spicy answers that those words cheered her up because she didn't realize she has taken what her parents taught her to heart until now. Now understanding each other, both Spicy and Finale cooperate with each other to defeat the Motto Ubauzo. Finally, both girls have a fun time dining with their friends, and take part in a graceful dance together.DPPC20

Reconnecting With Her Parents[]

As her parents' business trip was cancelled, Kokone finally has the opportunity to spend some time with them. Unfortunately, their interactions are awkward as her parents fail to understand Kokone's current interests, making Kokone feel sad and anxious.

Kokone later consults her friends about how they interact with their family, and they all encourage her to be more honest with her parents, after she tells them the childhood incident about the donut holes that had made her too afraid around her parents. At the bakery, both Kokone and her mother, Hatsuko finally get to be honest with each other, where Hatsuko tells Kokone that she has always wanted to eat doughnuts with her. When Hatsuko has her memories stolen, Spicy is determined to retrieve them no matter how hard-hitting Narcistoru's Motto Ubauzo is, because she wants to protect the bond she shares with her mother.

After the fight, Kokone and her parents get to open up to each other by being honest about their own desires, and they start to reconnect with each other after so long.DPPC23

Overcoming Green Peppers[]

When the girls and Rosemary are preparing lunch, Kokone learns that Kome-Kome is scared of green peppers, but she can't find a way to encourage her as she is also afraid of them. She then admits that she mimicked her mother tasting green peppers when she was a child, only to be shocked by their raw bitterness and hasn't eaten any since then. Not wanting Kome-Kome to undergo her same experience, Kokone decides to try overcoming this fear.

When waiting for the other girls and Takumi to cook their lunches, Kokone is told that Kome-Kome doesn't want her to get eaten by green peppers, but are both encouraged by Rosemary to try unfamiliar foods. But because Kokone tried too hard, she couldn't bring herself to actually eat one. After returning home, Kokone expresses to Todoroki that she wants to overcome her fear of green peppers so that she and Kome-Kome can both enjoy the happiness of eating with their friends.

The next day, thanks to Todoroki's advice, she and her friends visit a green pepper farm to harvest some peppers as a life lesson, and is amazed at the dedication the workers have to cultivate the peppers. But before she can taste one of the dishes, Spiritoru had captured the Green Pepper Recipepe, prompting her and her friends to fight against him. Throughout the fight, Spicy points out the benefits of eating green peppers, and the farmers' love for them, and successfully upgrades her barrier when defending herself against the Motto Ubauzo, before purifying it with Delicious Spicy Bakin'. In the end, she is finally able to conquer her longtime fear of green peppers, and is glad that Kome-Kome has overcome her fear too.DPPC26

Expressing Her Feelings[]

After her parents return from Isuki Island, Kokone is happy to spend time with them, but she is conflicted after learning that they're both considering moving there. Although her friends respect this decision, Kokone doesn't actually want to leave. Due to her conflicted feelings, she becomes rather distracted. However, after Pam-Pam tells her that everybody is on her side, Kokone finally decides to tell her parents how she feels after they cooked her some donut holes. In the end, Kokone gets to stay with her friends while also supporting her parents' job at the same time. DPPC35

Epilogue[]

After the final battle, Kokone advertises pita sandwiches to guests at Restaurant Du Lac, before watching Pam-Pam perform a new power. She and her friends then visit CooKingdom, where they celebrate with its citizens. In the end, Kokone says goodbye to Pam-Pam, but still visits CooKingdom from time to time.DPPC45

Fuwafuwa Sando de Kokoro ni Supaisu! Kyua Supaishī!

Cure Spicy (キュアスパイシー)? is Kokone's Pretty Cure alias. She transforms using Pam-Pam and performs her attacks with either the Heart Cure Watch or the Heart Juicy Mixer. During battles, Spicy mainly traps her enemies in between two slices of blue bread before they're purified.

Transformation[]

The transformation starts with Pam-Pam changing into her sandwich form. Kokone catches her and after spinning a couple of times and nuzzling her, she shouts the transformation phrase. After leaping up, multicolored circles fly up and Kokone opens up the bread flap on Pam-Pam, shouting "Open!", which causes Pam-Pam's hairpiece to transport to the rest of the sandwich. Kokone then shouts "Sandwich!" while putting the bread back on top. She then shouts "Sharing energy!" and flies into the air. The jewel on Pam-Pam's collar shines a blue light while she shouts "Tasty!", causing a round blue loaf of bread to appear, which Kokone eats. Then her hair changes color, length, and style, with Pam-Pam bouncing on top of her head, making her bow and ruffle appear. After that, heart-shaped highlights appear in her hair along with her earrings. Then her top, gloves, and skirt appear, with Pam-Pam's bouncing making her bow and apron also appear. Spicy then hugs Pam-Pam, which causes her front bow, tights, and boots to appear. With the transformation complete, Pam-Pam nuzzles on Spicy's face before appearing on her left hip. Spicy taps Pam-Pam twice before saying her introduction and striking a final pose. Finally, she says "You won't forget this shared tastiness!" before forming a circle with her arms.
