Elex 2: Importing save files from Elex 1 - is it possible? Elex 2 guide, walkthrough

This page of the Elex 2 guide explains if it is possible to import the saves from Elex 1 to transfer the hero's equipment and abilities.

Last update: 18 March 2022

This page of the guide to Elex 2 explains whether it is possible to transfer your Elex 1 save files, which you may be curious about with regards to preserving Jax's equipment, skills and choices from the first game in the series.

The following description includes small spoilers about the events of the Elex 2 prologue - they are necessary to understand the topic of importing save files discussed below. However, you don't have to worry about any spoilers from the rest of the campaign in Elex 2.

The events of Elex 2 take place many years after the story of Elex 1 - Elex 2: Importing save files from Elex 1 - is it possible? - Appendix - Elex 2 Guide

The events of Elex 2 take place many years after the story of Elex 1. Jax is the main character again in Elex 2, and you'll also meet many important characters from the first game.

Unfortunately, there is no way to import your old save files. There are several reasons for it:

  1. In the prologue of Elex 2 there's an attack which destroys Jax's home and forces him to escape. This explains the loss of the protagonist's equipment. You have to start collecting weapons, armor and other items from scratch.
  2. Also during the prologue, the main character will be infected and will have to deal with the effects of the infection throughout the game. When one of the NPCs saves him, you will have to start developing Jax from level 1. This refers to buying attributes and learning new skills from trainers.

In short - Jax's development is "reset" in Elex 2 and you have to develop him from scratch. The game does not allow you to transfer the choices from the first part of the series - it's up to the Piranha Bytes developers to decide which scenes are canon. Sadly, you have no influence over it.
