Antarctica is a continent on Earth in the real world. Its first appearance in Mario media is the The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 episode "7 Continents for 7 Koopas."
Description[]
Antarctica is an icy desert continent located at the southernmost point of Earth. Because of its frozen climate, Antarctica is the only continent without any human civilization, making it autonomous. Antarctica is largely inhabited by arctic wildlife, such as penguins.
In Mario is Missing![]
Antarctica has an essential role during the story. Bowser and the Koopalings travel to Antarctica, where they construct a fortress. Bowser's plan is to steal and sell various artifacts so that he can afford enough hair dryers to melt Antarctica and therefore flood the Earth.
In Mario Kart series[]
The entirety of Earth, including Antarctica, can be seen on the online racing menus for Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7, but does not serve a role in either game.
In Mario Party DS[]
Antarctica, along with the rest of the world map, appears on the globe in the minigame Globe Gunners.

In his attempt to conquer Earth, King Koopa puts Big Mouth Koopa Jr. in charge of Antarctica. Big Mouth uses his Magic Wand to create an Abominable Snowkoopa to scare the penguins. Luigi later restores peace to the continent.
