Dark Canisters are used in The Iron Rig DLC in the factory. On this page of the guide to Dredge, we show you how to obtain canisters using the Siphon Trawler and how to craft them.

In order to implement new projects in the factory in The Iron Rig DLC for Dredge, you will need Dark Canisters. Our guide explains how to build the Siphon Trawler in the Contamination Pursuit, how to use it to obtain canisters and how to produce canisters in the Factory on the rig.

Collecting canisters

1. Getting Canisters by removing water pollution is part of the Contamination Pursuit, which is tied to the factory on the oil rig.
2. You must first upgrade your Factory to level 2 - you must use 1 Ironhaven Crate.

The next step is to construct the Siphon Trawler. You need 2 ingredients:

1. Basic Trawl Net- you can buy it in the Undermarket store on the rig; it costs $225 by default (screenshot above);
2. 1 Ironhaven Crate.

In addition, you have to pay $50 for the operation and install a new trawler on your ship - you will receive the Remedial Apparatus achievement for this.

1. With the Siphon Trawler constructed, reach any location with spots on the water- they are marked with black spot icons on the world map.
2. Select the trawler from the drop-down menu to immerse it in water. Only then enter the contaminated area.

1. The trawler will start to absorb the thick liquid and fill up. You can observe this thanks to the canister icon in the lower left corner of the screen(screenshot 1). Once the icon fills to 100%, you will receive 1 Dark Canister (will appear in the Siphon Trawler's inventory).
2. The Siphon Trawler needs to be repaired regularly as it can work only for one day. You can take the Dark Canisters to the ship's main hold.

Producing canisters

1. The second method involves producing Dark Canisters through crafting.
2. You need to visit the rig and upgrade the Foundry to level 2 - this requires 1 Ironhaven Crate.

Dark Canister is on the tier 2 schematics list for the Foundry. To produce it, you need:

1. Metal Scraps x1 - to be found in the game world or crafted separately in the Foundry;
2. Dark Splash x2 - obtaining it is described on a separate page How to obtain Dark Splashes?;
3. $20.

What are the uses of Dark Canisters?

1. The first Dark Canister is needed to complete the Contamination mission - you must return with it to the scientist on the Iron Rig.
2. The next canisters may be useful for you to construct equipment in the Factory - they may be on the list of required materials (see the screenshot).
