Using Dark Splashes to build Dark Canisters
- Dark Splash is a unique ingredient that will be useful in The Iron Rig DLC after upgrading the Foundry to tier 2.
- Upgrading the Foundry will allow you to construct new objects, including Dark Canisters. To build one canister you need 2x Dark Splash.

How to get a Dark Splash?
- Reach the black spots on the world map, i.e. the areas that got contaminated as a result of using an oil rig drill. The sp[lashes are initially found only in the Marrows, but will appear in other areas too as you advance in the DLC.
- Swim into an area with thick liquidand swim on it. You can deliberately approach large bubbles that appear on the surface. You should receive a message about a new object in the cargo hold. This will be a Dark Splash.
You can get the Shadowed Splashes achievement if you end up with a total of 5 Dark Splashes in the cargo hold.
- Additional note: Dark Splashes may contaminate fish you have caught if they are in the same hold. It is best to acquire the splashes independently of fishing and immediately transport them to the Foundry on the rig.
