Wakko: "Penny Lane-y...

Trivia

Goofs

  • Even though Wakko sings "Penny Laney", they are actually recreating the Abbey Road album cover.

A Hard Day's Warners

Plot

In this practically scene-for-scene parody of the Beatles' film A Hard Day's Night (the opening scene), the Warners try to avoid their running and screaming fans (one of whom is Elmyra) at a Comic-Con-like convention. Pinky and the Brain make a cameo appearance at the end.

Trivia

  • Throughout the whole cartoon, most of the fans are recolors of the fanboys that would later appear in Please Please Please Get a Life Foundation. Even some of the background fans had the same color scheme as Elmyra.
  • Mr. Director has a brief cameo during the "They Want to Laugh" photo montage.

Good Idea: Buying a pair of shoes on sale.

Bad Idea: Buying a parachute on sale.

Gimme a Break

Plot

Slappy really wants to get some rest and relaxation, but Skippy insists they go to the mega awesome movie that is being shot. Every time she tries to relax, she somehow ends up on the set of the movie.

Crew

Trivia

  • The title is a reference to KitKat's famous slogan "gimme a break of that KitKat Bar."
  • Throughout the cartoon, Slappy ends up in parodies of Die Hard, Forrest Gump, Speed, Passenger 57, the "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" episode of The Twilight Zone and Jaws.
  • While delirious, Slappy mentions Huey, Dewey, Louie and Daisy Duck; who are owned by Disney.
  • She also mentions Tony the Tiger from Frosted Flakes.
  • Blow the Man Down plays while The Warners are in a bathtub. Also, Wakko takes a bite out of his rubber duckie.
  • This is the final Slappy Squirrel short to be written by Sherri Stoner, and would continue voicing the character until the end of the series.
  • Hello Nurse reprises her "I don't get it" shtick from "Bumbie's Mom".

Quotes

[Skippy pulls Slappy who is holding onto the tree, accidentally revealing the Warners taking a bath in the background. Dot screams.]
Wakko: Uh-oh, I feel a bubble coming on. (referring to feeling flatulent)
Slappy: Go away.
Slappy: [seeing three Skippys] Well, if it isn't Huey, Dewey and Louie. I haven't seen you guys since Daisy Duck's bat mitzvah.
Keanu Reeves: Uh, I'm looking for a bomb.
Slappy: Check out your performance in Dracula.
Skippy: Aunt Slappy, you were g-r-r-r-reat!
Slappy: Tony the Tiger, is that you?
Slappy: I'd like to go on a vacation where nothing happens!
Hello Nurse: (as an airport receptionist) Huh? I don't get it.
Slappy: No one expects you to.

Plot

In a not-so-subtle jab at the fanboys who post every single goof and piece of trivia about the show on the Internet (GUILTY!), the Warners advertise about a rehabilitation center for those people.

Crew

Trivia

  • In the opening shot, the bedroom contains not only Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain merchandise, but also Tiny Toon Adventures and Star Trek merchandise (sorry Yakko we rewound to the opening shot).
  • Most of the Internet nerds' lines are taken verbatim from the Cultural References Guide for Animaniacs. Writer Peter Hastings asked Animaniacs fan site founder Ron "Keeper1st" O'Dell for a copy to use for the show.
  • The shot of the coffee mug rippling is a parody of the scene from Jurassic Park.
  • A slightly edited version is displayed in the beginning of some Animaniacs Live shows.
  • Normally the closed captioning for the show's opening theme correctly portrays the lyric "We have pay or play contracts", but for this episode, it was intentionally changed to read "We have pay for play contracts", to reflect the nerd in the segment's opening pointing out the error.

Goofs

  • Some of the goofs are inaccurate. The TMS version of the Pinky and the Brain theme has Brain writing 91210, not 90201.
    • (kinda makes you wonder if they did that on purpose so people like us could write that.)
  • The third "please" is misspelled with 2 e's for humor value.
