Combat in Divinity: Original Sin 2 is an important part of the gameplay. Because of that the various statuses, that can be inflicted on characters (negative and positive effects, additional abilities and those that allow to control other units) play a big part during fights. page of the guide contains a table with descriptions of all key status effects that can be inflicted on characters.

Blessed

Target gains +20% to Accuracy, +10% to Dodging and +15% to all resistances.

Target is protected from Diseased, Decaying Touch, Petrified and Stunned effects.

This effect can be removed by inflicting Curse status.

Blinded

Greatly reduces range of vision of a target by reducing it to a few meters. Target receives -35% to Accuracy and can't use Attacks of Opportunity.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

Burning

A character receives a certain amount of fire damage per turn.

Reduces Fire Resistance by 10% and increases Water Resistance by 20%.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

First Aid, Armour of Frost, Tornado, Fortify, Cleanse Wounds and Mass Cleanse Wounds abilities.

You can extinguish fire by using a spell / attack connected to Water element.

Charmed

Allows you to control a character.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

Enrage and Peace of Mind abilities.

Chicken Form - Status effects in Divinity Original Sin 2 - Basics - Divinity Original Sin 2 Guide

Chicken Form

Turns a character into a chicken - it can't be controlled and, instead, it runs around aimlessly.

A character can't attack and interact with objects.

This effect is blocked by physical armor.

Can't be removed - you must wait for it to end on its own.

Chilled

Causes the following effects:

-35% to Speed Movement

-30% to Dodging

-20% to Water Resistance

-10% to Air Resistance

+10% to Fire Resistance

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

Clear-Minded - Status effects in Divinity Original Sin 2 - Basics - Divinity Original Sin 2 Guide

Clear-Minded

Increases Strength, Finesse, Intelligence and Wits attributes as well as character's Accuracy. A bonus to attributes scales with Intelligence of a caster.

Removes and protects from Blinded, Terrified, Charmed, Taunted, Sleeping, Enraged and Mad status effects.

Removed by Enrage status.

Crippled - Status effects in Divinity Original Sin 2 - Basics - Divinity Original Sin 2 Guide

Crippled

A character receives -100% to Movement Speed and -30% to Dodging. A character can't move.

This effect is blocked by physical armor.

First Aid, Haste and Tactical Retreat. Also, when a character stands on a surface with "Blessed Web" effect.

Cursed - Status effects in Divinity Original Sin 2 - Basics - Divinity Original Sin 2 Guide

Cursed

A character receives -10% to Accuracy, -30% to Dodging and -15% to all resistances.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

Bless ability.

Decaying

A character receives damage from healing status effects.

This effect is blocked by physical armor.

Fortify, Cleanse Wounds, Mass Cleanse Wounds abilities.

Diseased

A character receives -3 to Constitution and -35% to damage dealt by it.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

Encouraged - Status effects in Divinity Original Sin 2 - Basics - Divinity Original Sin 2 Guide

Encouraged

All allied characters that are in the range of the ability receive +1 to Strength, Finesse and Intelligence as well as +2 to Constitution.

Encumbered

A character carries too many items and is encumbered. This effect has two stages:

- when a character is encumbered below 20% its maximum carrying weight (119,9kg for 100kg) they receive -50% to their Speed Movement

- when a character is encumbered above 20% its maximum carrying weight they receive -100% to their Speed Movement and can't move.

This effect can be removed by increasing character's Strength (each point adds 10kg to their carrying weight) or by removing items from backpack.

Flanked

A character receives -10% to Dodging.

This effect is activated when there are, at least, two enemies next to a character.

Move away from enemies.

 

Floating

A character is floating and surface effects have no impact on them - they can fly over Oil or a Frozen surface.

Fortified

Increases overall amount physical armor and restores a bit of it.

A character is invulnerable to teleportation - it can't be teleported.

Frightened

A character is frightened - runs aimlessly and player loses control over it.

Frozen

A character is frozen and player / enemy loses control over it.

A character receives -100% to Dodging, -20% to Water Resistance and +20% to Fire and Poison Resistance.

A character is invulnerable to Stunned, Poisoned, Charmed, Terrified, Bleeding, Petrified, Taunted and Sleeping status effects.

This effect is blocked by physical armor.

Inflict Burning or Warm status or when a character stands on a surface with "Blessed Fire" status.

Vaporize ability.

Hasted

A character is speeded up - their Speed Movement is increased and get additional 1 AP to their overall AP points with which they started a turn.

Can be removed by inflicting Slowed effect.

Infected

A character receives -3 to Constitution attribute and -35% to damage dealt by them.

A character can infect nearby targets.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

Knocked Down

A character is knocked down for one turn during which it can't move and perform any actions.

Increases maximum amount of magic armor and removes Burning, Poisoned, Stunned, Frozen, Suffocation and Petrified effects.

Marked

A character loses bonus to damage that it got for having a high ground and characters, that attack from lower ground, don't receive any penalties.

A character can't disappear and start sneaking. They also receive -100% to Dodging.

Necrofire

A character receives fire damage per turn. They also receive -15% to Fire Resistance and +20% to Water Resistance.

A character is invulnerable to Frozen, Chilled, Warm and Wet effects.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

Bless, Mass Cleanse Wounds abilities.

Necrofire effect can't be extinguished in the same way as normal fire (by using spells / attacks based on Water element).

Nullified Resistances

Lowers all resistances.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

No available counteractions.

A character is turned into stone and can't perform any actions.

A character receives -100% to Accuracy, -20% to Earth Resistance, +30% to Fire and Air Resistance.

A character is invulnerable to Frozen, Burning, Stunned, Poisoned, Charmed, Terrified, Knocked Down, Chilled, Warm, Bleeding, Taunted, Sleeping effects and can't be teleported.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

Bless, Vaporise, Magic Shell abilities or when a character stands on a surface with "Blessed Oil" effect.

Poisoned

A character receives poison damage per turn.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

A character receives the same damage as the caster.

A character is put to sleep and can't perform any actions. This effect is removed when a character receives damage.

Slowed

A character is slowed down - their Speed Movement is reduced by 1 AP point with which it started a turn and receives -30% to Dodging.

Stunned

A character is Stunned and can't perform any actions for one turn.

Shocked status is inflicted first, then Stunned.

A character receives -100% to Dodging, -15% to Air Resistance and +15% to Fire Resistance.

A character is invulnerable to Frozen, Charmed, Terrified, Petrified, Taunted and Sleeping effects.

This effect is blocked by magic armor.

Armour of Frost, Turn to Oil, Bless abilities or when a character stands on a surface with "Blessed Oil" effect.

Suffocating

A character loses a certain amount of magic armor per turn.

Taunted

Forces enemies to attack a character that used this ability.

This effect is blocked by physical armor.

A character is terrified - runs around aimlessly and player loses control over it. It also receives -20% to Dodging.

A character receives 50% to Life Steal - it regenerates 50% of health from physical damage that they dealt.
