When starting Star Wars Outlaws (planet Cantonica), you may have trouble with lockpicking, which is a variation of a rhythm game. On this guide page you will find detailed information on how to disarm locks in the mini-game, i.e. how to correctly enter beat sequences. We also show you how to make it easier to complete the mini-game or turn off the rhythm mini-game completely.

Fixing and unlocking the Data Spike

1. Lockpicking is one of the mini-games you can play in Star Wars Outlaws. Instead of classic lockpicks, you use a data spike - a special gadget for disarming electronic locks.
2. Shortly after starting the game (first mission Beginnings on planet Cantonica), you will receive a broken data spike that requires repairs. This is part of the main story and cannot be missed - you will need to reach Preeban's shop.

Lockpicking mini-game

You can test the spike on the container at Preeban's store. In the future the data spike may also be used to open doors. When you approach a lock, the game will inform you that you can use this gadget. Data spike has unlimited uses and it doesn't need to be repaired again.

1. Lockpicking is a rhythm mini-game - you have to listen to the rhythmic pattern and press the button (R2/RT) in sync with every beat, i.e. each time the yellow light comes on.
2. It is important to know that you cannot skip any beat, because then the game will not count the current sequence and you will have to start all over again.

1. Always take a few seconds to learn and remember the sequence - they vary depending on the mini-game. Each correct hit you make is symbolized by the blue lamp lighting up. The locking mechanisms in the background will also move.
2. Later in the game you can find more complicated locks. The more complex the lock, the more error-free beats it requires. The beats can also be very close to each other and force you to, for example, press R2/RT very quickly twice.
3. During the mini-game you can also look around to the sides. Do this in hostile locations, because you may notice, for example, a guard walking towards you. This will allow you to exit from the mini-game, hide, and avoid the alarm.

How to decrease the mini-game's difficulty?

The developers have provided options to reduce the challenge level of the mini-game - use the facilitators if you are not good at getting perfect beats or cannot disarm complex locks. You will find the options in the Gameplay tab and the most important ones are:

1. Lockpicking rhythm challenge - this option allows you to completely disable the rhythmic pattern. The game will no longer require you to press R2/RT according to each beat.
2. Lockpicking difficulty - you can lower the default normal setting.
3. Lockpicking visual cues - additional tips will appear on the screen regarding the right moments to perform beats.
