New Tricks is the next mission Kay Vess will undertake on the planet Toshara. During this mission you will learn the basics of upgrading your equipment and you'll also visit new locations on the planet, far beyond the main city. On this page of the guide you will find a detailed walkthrough of the mission along with useful tips that will help you deal with more difficult parts of it.
Visiting the gun shop
After completing the Underworld quest, go to Danka at Makal's Cantina. She will tell you to go to a friendly pawn shop where you can buy parts to modify the blaster.
The yellow indicator will lead you to the shop in town. Buy (or rather receive for free) the necessary part (Ion Casting).
However, you will still be missing additional, illegal components. Waka will tell you over the radio that you'll have to steal these from one of the local syndicates: the Pyke or Crimson Dawn.
You can find required parts for the blaster in the headquarters of both syndicates. However , depending on the decisions you made in the previous quest , one of the groups should have a "good" relationship with Kay. They will allow you to enter the territory of that faction without arousing suspicion. Since in this walkthrough we decided to help the Pyke syndicate, we will try to steal the blaster parts from them.
How to steal blaster parts?
Head to the Pyke territory you infiltrated during the previous mission. Providing Gorak with valuable information at that time should ensure that you will now be on friendly terms with the syndicate, which will allow you to move freely within the organization's closed territory.
Follow the yellow marker. You won't be able to immediately go into the building because of two guards (it is a guarded area, inaccessible even with a "good" reputation), but you can easily bypass them by using the ventilation shaft.
Go around the building on the right side, while deactivating the camera thanks to Nix. Disarm the lock that opens the shaft and go inside.
The relevant parts are in the box. Once you have collected everything you are interested in, you may leave the Syndicate premises the same way you entered.
How to upgrade your blaster?
Waka will suggest you meet in a town called Jaunta's Hope. Exit the main town, hop on your speeder, and meet the mechanic at one of the landing pads.
Board the ship and use the workbench to modify your blaster. You will find the option in the "Modules" > "Ion" > "Burst" tab.
After installing the modification, Danka will give you new instructions over the radio. Head to the Hutt Cartel warehouse near Jaunta's Hope. You will get there by speeder.
To open the door to the building, shoot an ion beam at the capacitor near the window. The button responsible for changing the blaster's fire mode (plasma and ion) can be seen in the lower right corner of the screen.
Collect all the treasures you need from inside the building, then return to Jaunta's Hope (you can fast travel there).
Danka will be waiting for you at the restaurant in the town center. After a short conversation, the New Tricks quest will be completed.
