Get topping pie from Gary is one of the hidden tasks in Disco Elysium. It is associated with Gary, the cryptofascist. In this walkthrough, you will learn when to talk to Gary and how to pick up and eat a gluten-free topping pie.
Unlocking the task
This is a secret task with special requirements and restrictions regarding its timing - you can easily miss it and permanently lose the chance to complete it.
Deal with the main part of the Inspect the traps task, which you will receive on the west coast from Morell, the Cryptozoologist. In the final part of this task, you must return to the cafe in Whirling-in-Rags. One of the characters that should appear here is Gary, who'll be wearing a blue outfit (see the screenshot above). He accompanied Morell on the way from the west coast to the hostel.
Talk to Lena first and get the reward for that task. Before you report to Morell, you can talk to Gary.
The game will check Harry's stats in the background and if you have met the requirements, the dialog option to ask Gary for a pie will appear (see the screenshot above). Make sure to improve the following skills before talking to Gary:
- increase Composure to at least 4 points;
- increase Suggestion to at least 2 points;
- increase Authority to at least 6 points;
- increase Endurance to at least 6 points;
- additionally, Conceptualization must be less than 6 points (if necessary, wear outfits that will temporarily reduce this number).
If you have completed the Inspect the traps task and left the hostel, then you will not be able to talk to Gary about the pie.
Picking up the pie
You will receive 15 XP and the pie will appear in your inventory. Examining the pie and choosing the option to share it with Kim will allow you to additionally unlock the Gluten-Free Topping Pie gold trophy.
