This quest is a continuation of the task Open trash container - we described it on a separate page of the guide. After a thorough search of the trash container at the back of the Whirling-in-Rags hostel (next to the crime scene), you will find a Yellow Man mug.

You can optionally ask Cuno (the boy from the crime scene) and Garte (at the Whirling-in-Rags cafe) for items from the trash container, but there will be no breakthrough in the quest.

You need to find Gary, the blue-clad crypto-fascist. By default, he can be found in the northwestern part of the map, on the coast. This is the same location Morell is at, who can give you the side quest Inspect the traps.

Later in the game, Gary may appear at the Whirling-in-Rags cafe and will then be at the counter - Disco Elysium: Who put the clothes in the trash? - walkthrough - Other - Disco Elysium Guide

Don't finish the task Inspect the traps too early. After passing it, Gary may disappear irrevocably, and this won't allow you to bring the described task to the very end.
